If I were Sony, I'd just redirect the excess to Japan

They can't seem to keep it in stock over there

I thought Japan was in the middle of a drought for videogame systems in general at the moment? Either way, the PSP only has one game coming out this year that the Japanese will like, Tales of Eternia; that's about the only one that I think will generate any significant sales.

It's been the top selling of all the systems in Japan for 2 months. It's almost outsold the PS2 this year over there. They can't keep the thing in stock. Here, doesn't seem like it took off overly well. Looks like only the hardcores got it. I think the same thing may have happened to the DS after Xmas, but I"m not sure

I heard it only sold like 600K in four months, and that the only game that has sold well at all is Tales of Eternia. The DS sold 1.5 million in its first six weeks in comparisson (in Japan), record breaking sales for Japan.

It's sold closer to 900k total and is selling 45-50k a week right now, so it's selling like hotcakes (almost double the DS right now). It'll catch up to it soon
Games didn't sell overly well on the PS2 at launch there either....

I was in EB yesterday and the guy said they sold all of their stock but 3, but that was the only store I checked.
