Kingdom Hearts is probably the best game I have played yet

I have not yet beaten it, but there are loads of secret bosses and whatnot to do...I was trying the Weapon-type thing in Agrabah, and I can do it just fine up until about halfway through the fight, when it becomes a spinning hail of scything death that cuts me to ribbons within twenty seconds. (No spoilers asked for, I'm quite happy to be vivisected for the moment.) Not to mention that the music is wonderful and the graphics are just pure happy-making.

There is one spoiler I'd ask for, though - Maleficent, in dragon form, was actually pretty tough (I'm playing on Expert), so after beating her I ran right back to the save point and saved over my game without thinking. Is there anything crucial in that room where you fight her as a dragon that can't be got anywhere else, since it doesn't seem possibly to actually go back there?

Wow.

I tried the Platinum Match in the Arena. I lost in roughly 30 seconds and didn't do any damage to him.

This game makes me *so* *happy*. I am almost afraid to follow my dream to become a game designer...just because I don't know if I could ever, ever make anything this good.

There's nothing in the Maleficient Dragon room that you need to come back for. And yeah she's a pretty tough battle on Expert. I just wimped out and had Beast keep on charge in and get a few attacks before dying and coming back 10 seconds later with Second Wind while I hide somewhere far away.

On Kurt Zisa or whatever his name was, one of his form is immune to physical and the other form is immune to magic. The magic immune form also silences you so you need to get Tinkerbell out there right away unless you've some godly reflexes.

Is that the name of that Weapon-thing in Agrabah?

I did call Tinkerbell, but she can't save me from it when it turns into an oversize shuriken. I suppose I'll have to figure out some other way to do it. Please, Don, no advice or spoilers on the subject at present.

The guy in Agrabah was in the 'send in your name and get named after a boss' contest. I think Kurt Zisa was the winner but not positive.

None of the hidden bosses in Kingdom Hearts have any real special tricks to them, at least nothing that suddenly makes it trivial short of completely memorizing their pattern. I think I just got enough defense so Tink can keep me alive during the silence phase.

Yeah, Kurt Zisa was the name of the contest winner.

He was a bugger the first time I faced him (Expert) but not one of the more difficult bosses once you figure out how to beat him down.

Now the Arena... Took me forever to beat Mr.S

Yes, I have a feeling I'm sort of leaving him for last. I tried him a few more times and I think I took at least a miniscule sliver off his life counter before he cut me into little pieces, cut those little pieces into smaller pieces, and then cut those smaller pieces into a fine powder.

KH is one of my favourite games also. My friend gave it to me for nothing because he didn't like it O_O. Only part I never really got into was the gummi stuff but I did/found everything else.

I really loved the Gummi Ship stuff for some reason. :) My friend and I created some freakin smurfing ships. That was fun. I hope they include it in the new one.

I loved KH. It is easily one of my favorite games. I cannot wait for 2.

I also loved all the gummi ship stuff, I had fun building a dreadnaught that was so disgustingly powerful it wasnt even funny. I also loved KH:CoM for the GBA, I thought it was a neat continuation of the story, and that the gameplay was extremly solid.

Gummi ship is lame until you can actually build some cool ships. I had like 5 Ultima/Firaga protruding on my ship in random areas and all my engines on the left side of the ship. It's pretty fun to just have best of everything in a totally non-aerodynamic ship and blast everything to pieces.

One thing I find annoying about Sephiroth and most of KH's battle is that 95% of the time, rolling like a madman in a circle works out to be more effective than actually trying to dodge the attacks.

You're a pretty big pessimist and critic, Don...to me, it really gets annoying sometimes...

Heh, that he may be, but he's right in this case. Rolling like a tool is one of the best ways to avoid attacks in KH. Something I learned in the very first battle.

How can that be? Sora doesn't get Dodge Roll for quite awhile I seem to remember.

Depends on your initial choice of shield/magic/attack I think

I went Def and got Parry early early I remember, I was getting hell experience parrying all of Tidus's attacks on that beach, I think I got to level 8 or something insane lol.

They're reworking the Gummi Ship section for the new one. I'm rather happy about that actually...I liked it for everything except the balance - I felt the ship levels were way too easy, so there was no incentive to find new cool blocks/etc. I loved finding new weapons/items in chests, but I was always vaguely disappointed to work my butt off trying to get a chest and find some gummi piece in it (even worse if I already had the maximum number of pieces of that type so the chest just sat there forever).

Ok, I'll break down and ask...how did you guys survive Kurt Zisa's whirling-death-blade bit, when he actually turns his entire body into a spinning shuriken and flies around? I can do the rest of his patterns, but that one kills me REALLY fast - I can barely dodge even one or two hits usually, and each hit comes so fast I can't cure myself.

Aeroga will help. I don't remember having much success dodging that attack but with Second Chance and high enough HP/defense you should be able to sneak in a heal somehow, especially if Tinkerbell is already up.

Oh.

...

I suppose I'd better find Aeroga then.

Well, I'm pretty sure you don't need Aeroga because I always forgot to cast it, but every guide I've seen said it's a good idea.

Having Ultimate Weapon helps too if you haven't got it already.

I see there is yet much for me to find in the game.

Have you been synthesizing stuff from the Mog House? The items you get from there depends on how many items you've already synthesized.

Ya, I got about 20 of them so far...

Well it's been awhile for KH but doesn't Kurt's spinning attack go either low or high? If I'm not thinking of some other attack by some other guy from some other game, you just kinda wait and see where it's going and then jump if it's low or roll if it's high. I haven't played this in so long. Maybe he homes onto Sora and jumping early leads him away. Anyway I never used those wind spells I didn't even know what they did at the time. Never got the book with it. I'll go through this game again when I'm done with Star Ocean in about 83 years.

Kurt Ziza was the first secret boss I found/beat and felt to me to be the easiest. Good ol' Sephy OTOH was a pain in the ass. :D

I defeated Kurt Zisa. All that's left is the Phantom, Ice Titan, and Sephiroth. This game is HARD on Expert, though.

Ice Titan is actually quite easy. I found him the easiest of the 4 extra bosses by far.
