Utopia, anyone still play?

Well, things are kind of exciting this age. After I left the Kingdom that a bunch of us from the Shrine had been in, I set out on a new project. I ended up in Playboys, who have joined Absalom. We decided to push a unique strategy that involved heavy reliance on the Paradise spell, and it seemed to be the key as we are approaching the mark of being 50% larger than #2. Currently the ranking looks like this:

The Largest Kingdoms in the World
April 13th, YR4

Rank Kingdom Island Total Lands
1 Playboys Of Absalom (5:16) Porsta (#16) 106,685 Acres
2 Sanc vs Trans wewt (7:50) Yalto (#50) 72,762 Acres
3 andn00bs (2:7) Gaia (#7) 65,180 Acres
4 Demise (5:23) Xanth (#23) 63,100 Acres
5 Tivoli (6:4) Darth (#4) 58,922 Acres

For a bit of history on the Kingdom. I first met them WAY back in age 10; seeing as they were a great Kingdom I supported them for membership in my Alliance at the time, ES, which some of you who played may remember. Age 11 was their first age in ES, we fought one highly successful Alliance war. By age 13 we had developed some huge differences with ES, and we broke off and founded a new Alliance, called AR. It was at this time that Eric joined the Kingdom; he was there for several ages. Playboys spent many ages in AR, even after I had left and formed a top Kingdom Alliance called "The Family" with a Mafia angle to it, and later on LGC (a Mega-Alliance formed by the combination of Prophecy and Absalom, it was to be the next ES). LGC eventually failed as their were too many people strugling for influence, a strong leadership could never be achieved, and I dispanded it about 5-6 ages ago (I forget the exact date). In fact, during the final days, LGC and AR were actually at war, and Playboys played a key role in that war even though the war ultimately ended in the downfall of AR (which was kind of sad, since I founded that Alliance, and it was powerful, but at the time I was leader of LGC).

Anyways, during this time I landed in The Gray's Kingdom, and Kali-O joined as well, we left about an age later.

Playboys is currently on top of the world, the best Kingdom in Utopia. Fastest Kingdom in history to reach the 100K acre mark.

Now, I know I have said how I dislike online games in the past, but Utopia is quite a bit different from most online games. Utopia doesn't require a person to login and play 4 hours a day in order to just keep up with things. A person can login and play as little as 5 minutes a day between 3-4 logins (excluding important times like war) and be an important and powerful leadership figure within the game. There are a lot of people who choose to spend 5+ hours a day on the game, but they are generally the monkeys, not the leaders =)

Of course, those Monkey's can often become important assets to leaders, and therefore can work their way up the ranks. Either way, Utopia is a very relaxing game, and aside from it being a major habit, the easiness of it on the schedule is the reason why I still play it.

As far as Absalom goes, it is arguably the best Alliance in the history of Utopia; though it has never reached the status that Alliances in the past like LGC, ES, and Family have reached, it is the oldest Alliance in Utopia that has remained a signficant power, and is often the most powerful Alliance, as it is currently, and as it has been for the last few ages. It has not existed all of the ages since its foundation, during LGC and ES, Absalom did not exist, but was rather a part of the Kingdoms that made up those Alliances. It is an Alliance that has been around for more than six years.

Playboys Of Absalom

I'm shocked both that kingdom AND alliance still exist, I gotta wonder what players still live in that kingdom, can't be the same guys I used to play with.

Well, the core is still around, Kinky, Atropine, Lennox, Maclean, and others. There are a lot of newer players as well though. Palo is in the Kingdom (you might know him as I think the two of you were in Desire together).

As for Absalom, the Alliance is eternal. It has been nearly thirty ages now, and the Alliance is the strongest in the game still, and has been most of the last 29 ages. I do remember the time in age 7 when they tried to kill me though, thanks for helping me kill their idol Sauron's Pets though =) It was quite a kill, and it is still talked about today even =)

Utopia is still a great community, it still captures the imagination of thousands of players, and as I said, it takes as little 5 minutes between 3 logins a day =) It's like brushing your teeth.

5 minutes, 3x a day my ass...

I tried building a kd a few ages back (after we left that other one) and managed to get pushed just out of Top 10 (WoL) by a former BF kd, which I thought was pretty decent for a first attempt from scratch. The next age, I just couldn't whip up the activity...and quit out of frustration.

Seriously, if you try and lead anything in that game, it just takes too much time and way too much stress...I have no idea how successful monarchs/alliance leaders do it.
