Wow, am I glad I sold my original MGS3 just before the price drop:

This is going to be an excellent version. I just hope that it's not a full-price game.

Last but not least, the Existence disc features a three-hour compilation of all the MGS3 cutscenes that have been edited together to play like a real movie.
Wowwwwwwwwwwww. I'd say that makes it at least worth a rental to show non-gamers.

That's a keeper to me. The only question is do I buy it new or used....

Loony, if amazingly talented, Japanese game designer wrote:"Creating this disc has taken us about the same time as editing a real film," said Kojima. "It takes a long time to actually play through MGS3, so there are probably people that never finished the whole game. With this disc, anyone can experience the drama in MGS3 and cry."
Not that I don't think it's a good game, for where I am along in it, but I don't know if it's THAT good...

Hey, I'll admit that it got a little dusty in my house during the ending.

Depends where you are. I thought the beginning was a little slow, while fighting the Cobras, which is about 1/3 of the game. I didn't like any of them 'til the 5th and last one (if you haven't gotten that far, I won't ruin it for you). But after that, it was excellent IMO. It was up there with playing the first one when it was fresh and far better than anything in the second, which was a disappointment.

If you get past the Cobras, it's great

During The End or the ending? I thought the former was maybe the worst fight in the entire series while the latter was excellent

I will murder you all in your sleep. There used to be common decency about spoilers on this board...

Yeah, when we were using the superior board script. Now, it's virtually impossible in the middle of a thread. So, now I'm going to be replying to Tort with some spoilers, so if you don't want it ruined, stop reading.

I warned you about the spoiler

Stop reading

Ok, here comes my reply:

The fight with The End started off as the coolest fight EVER. I mean, a sniper fight in the forest? Great! What made it god awful was the fact that you had to chase the fuck down between THREE SEPARATE SCREENS and it was damned near impossible to spot him, even with all your gadgets (I tried fucking everything). Even the guide says try and find the fuck with the infared goggles. Yeah, IF YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA WHICH SCREEN HE'S IN. I ran into the bastard 3 times looking for him. Then, if he actually spots you and shoots you, good luck trying to get around to get an angle on him. Either he pins your or runs away. Man, it was the dullest fight ever because of that.

I thought I was the only one, maybe I just sucked at the game. Apparently, my 1:15 to beat the fuck my first time is actually good. I've heard horror stories of people taking 3 hours to beat the fuck (and it wasn't because they were trying to do it for the stamina kill; that would be your second time through). Most of the people I've talked to at my bud's EB found it irritating. If they kept him to one area, it would have been great. That way, it wasn't a chore to find him. But once they had him moving around, it became extremely tedious.

I actually disliked all the Cobras except for The Sorrow. Now that was one of the coolest fights in the whole series.

Eh. The fight took me an hour. I did let him heal himself at one point.

And I got the stamina kill.

Fun fight anyway.
