This link leads to screenshots of the Upcoming game: Xenosaga Episode III: Thus Spoke Zarathustra. So far there are no further details on the game, but at least its good to see that the third volume is well underway and for this generation of consoles.

It's a remake of Xenosaga 1 and 2 for the DS with Xenogears style graphics. The gameplay is also supposedly more like a traditional RPG than Xenosaga has been.

More information on these two games will likely be in soon.

As a bonus, Seiken Densetsu has been confirmed by SquareEnix. What developers are working on it, I am not sure (hopefully they take notes from Terranigma and not Secret of Mana, as Square did with Sword of Mana). Actually, two Seiken Densetsu games, one, which appears to be furthest along, is a Seiken Densetsu adventure for the DS (looks like a remake of Seiken Densetsu III, but it is difficult to say); the second is for this generation of consoles and will be the fourth game in the Seiken Densetsu series, it is fully 3D. The console for Seiken Densetsu 4 has not been announced, but likely it will be for PS2; there has been speculation that it won't be for this generation.

Hopefully more information will be out on these two games soon as well.

Shion's design in Xeno 3 reminds me of FFX2.

Man, it's about time SquareEnix put out an SD game for the console. Now if they'd only do the same with FFT.

Some more information on Xenosaga Episode III, to sum it up:

It looks like Cities will be somewhat more vast in design than previous installments. They also appear to have a Xenogearsish style of navigation similar to the vast cities of Kislev and Aveh; which will certainly help navigation.

It also looks like this is confirmed to be the concluding portion of the story taking place in the time frame of Perfect Works Episode 1.

The game takes place over a year after the events at the end of the second game; so things have been given time to develop. The end of part 2 showed a very large development in the story by bringing in some familiar elements to Xenogears fans, so I think it is safe to say that Xenosaga episode III will finish off at, or after the first events of the introductory phase of Xenogears.

I would like to list off the elements which are similar to Xenogears, but I fear that a lot of people have not yet played Xenosaga Episode 2, or even episode 1, and I don't want to spoil it for those who might want to pick up the anime version, the DS version, or even cheaper copies of the PS2 version in the future. Essentially though, without spoiling any direct details:

The Wave Existance (obvious), the idea of a "contact", the development of Merkaba (Merkava, mistranslation in Xenogears) which is the core weapon and powersource, of the Ark at the beginning of Xenogears. The very last scenes of episode 2 leave you wanting to play episode 3 right away based on what is known of Xenogears (and I can't reveal any of those reasons in this post).

Some more info (from Ormus society and other sites);

Xenosaga Episode I&2 will have password communication features with Epside 3.

Episode III will be the final volume; whether or not they continue on to Perfect Works Episode 2+ is not really known. They might mean the final volume period, or the final volume of the PW1 story.

The game also spans two DVDs

Jin Uzuki is the main character

The game is longer and has a higher production value than the other two games

Battle system is supposedly much improved in terms of speed and ease over the last two games
