  • 3D Realms is back??

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

In development since 1995, Native American powers, a living ship, major use of anti-gravity/reverse gravity, portals abound

Man, this really looks damn cool for an FPS, though the Game Informer article looked better. However, the 11 minutes video on GameSpot looks really cool, and showcases a lot of the neat features.

People ought to time their development efforts around the latest licensed version of Carmack's engines... ;)

I've heard some unsubstantiated rumors of EB stores carrying a Duke Nukem Forever release date.

I've also heard some unsubstantiated rumors that it is more advisable to bring a sweater now, rather than an air conditioner, should you be traveling to Hell anytime soon, so take from it what you will.

Apparently, they have. Remember the Max Payne series? Yeah that. They didn't actually MAKE make the games, but they had a hand in developing it. Same here, since Human Head is doing a lot of the grunt work.

And this isn't vaporware. They have actual video of the thing in action. This isn't some, "D00d, I got a screenshot for this thing!" There's an 11-minute video, and it looks like it's almost finished.

The Duke Nukem Forever is a running joke, even on their web site. I think they are trying to figure out who to give it to in order to develop it. Similar to Prey, actually, since the plans for the game is 10 years old.

Hmmm...looks like they have a pretty well-developed multiplayer demo of it:

Actually, the game is coming out July 11.

Edit: Awesome! Jeremy Soule does the music for it!

I downloaded the 360 demo when it came out the other day, but I haven't had time to play it yet. I'll have time this weekend to give it a whirl, tho, and I can post impressions then.

I played the 360 demo - unimpressive. Graphics aren't that great, feels just like a Quake game with the ability to walk on ceilings and shit - major pass from me.

Having never extensively played any Quake game and thus coming at this from a fresh angle:

I thought the wall walking would be cooler (like in the Ghost in the Shell game for PSOne), spirit walking is a nifty gimmick, I loved the fact that when you die you don't really die, the portals were nifty but relatively pointless, there were a couple amusing bits, and the bar music was good - but the main character was very unlikeable and I saw nothing in the demo that really made me go "now *this* is an FPS I gotta get!"

Nope, my 360 dollars next week will go to Chromehounds. Now that should be a good time (online, anyway).
