I heard about it on the radio Friday morning and tickets were still available, so we bought them at the venue. The show is called Play! and the NSO performed music from popular video games while playing clips of the games on large screens. It was at an outside amphatheatre by us called Wolf Trap and the lawn tickets were cheap, so we brought a blanket, layed down, and had a blast... it was a georgous night. The music was awesome and they did a great job with the graphics show. Although, Square must not have allowed them to use any clips of their games (with the exeption of KH), which was diappointing.

Here was the playlist:
PLAY! Openeing Fanfare by Nobuo Uematsu
Final Fantasy VIII - Liberi Fatali by Nobuo
Super Mario Bros. by Koji Kondo
Battlefield 1942 by Joel Eriksson
Crono Trigger/Cross compilation by Yasunori Mitsuda
Shenmue by Ryuji Iuchi
Kingdom Hearts by Hikaru Utada
Metal Gear Solid by Tappy Iwase
Finan Fantasy - Swing de Chocobo by Nobuo
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind by Jeremy Soule
Silent Hill by Akira Ywamaoka
The Legend of Zelda by Koji Kondo
Final Fantasy VII - Aeris Theme by Nobuo
Halo by Marty O'Donnel and Mike Salvatori
Sonic the Hedgehog by Masato Nakamura
World of Warcraft by Jason Hayes
Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel by Nobuo

Kim, who was big into band in HS and loves the symphony, loved it even though she couldnt recognize the songs like i could. Our favorites were Metal Gear Solid and the Crono Trigger/Cross compilation. Everyone loved Mario and Zelda. As an encore they played music for two new games, one is just out and the other is coming soon: Prey and Blue Dragon. The Sing de Chocobo song kinda sucked, it is a bad remix of one of my favorties so i was upset.

If you get a chance to catch this, it is touring, you should go, it was fun! It was about the dorkiest crowd i have ever seen gathered in one place, though... I dont know why video game geeks need to be SO geeky on purpose. One couple dressed up like Ynua and Auron.

That's awesome. I've been to the BSO (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra) on a couple of occassions for school stuff. It's pretty cool, but to hear all gaming music would be the ultimate.

Los Angeles keeps getting shafted in the game concert arena. Luckily, I'm moving up to the Bay Area soon, and that place is full of them.

I don't think it's coming up to Toronto, but I'll check. I hope to hell it is, I loved the Dear Friends Final Fantasy concert last year in Detroit.

Hot damn, they're MINIMUM $65 a ticket for the Toronto show; as much as $125. I wanna go, but that's a bit pricey

Man, I wish I could go to one of these. That's a pretty nice set list they have there. I'm surprised they included tracks from Shenmue, Silent Hill, and Chrono Trigger/Cross(this alone must've been worth the price of admission).

Defenitely, the Trigger/Cross compilation was the best.

The Silent Hill one was cool because it has guitar in it. I've never playe the games, but the song was kickin.

Yeah, I saw that. And VERY expensive, too rich for my blood. I love symphonic game music, but not $80+ love it

Wow, for our lawn seats we paid like 15 apiece.
