SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!

I saw it, and was not disapointed. I went with 7 friends and we knew what to expect and just let it roll and laughed at it.

I am willing to see it again. It was pure awesomeness.

I saw it, too, and had a good time. It was fun with a decently full rowdy audience.

I do think they missed a few great opportunities, though... i'll post a spoiler one later.

Saw it too. Fun movie to watch with a fun crowd. The guys at my theater were yelling shit all through the previews. Good times.

Basically, yeah. They didn't actually screen it for critics ahead of time, so the only reviews available were those that saw it the Thursday night then rushed to get it on websites for Friday. So it must have been word of mouth that stopped it. Either that or there was just a lot of noise from a small number of people as it didn't seem to capture some of the casuals like Blair Witch did.

I go with small number of people and lots of noise. Most people I know said they'd never see something so stupid. I on the other hand, respect and encourage this kind of stupidity.

If it does similar business next weekend and doesn't drop off too fast, it won't be considered a disappointment at all (according to my mother, who works in the industry).

I mean, it's not a record-setting launch, but for a cheesy B-movie? Come on, I think they did pretty well. It was still first place at the box office - beat Talladega Nights AFAIK. Also, bear in mind that video rental on this movie will probably be insane, and that generates nearly as much revenue as a domestic release these days.

I might have to do some of these when I see it next weekend. I'll definitely do the flashlight thing if anyone else is doing it too. And I KNOW I have to do the Fat Albert one.

Technically, it actually didn't beat Talledega Nights. New Line added the Thursday night take of about $1.3million to try to trumpet the fact it beat it, but pre-Friday numbers aren't officially weekend box office figures, so it actually sits about $1mil behind a movie that's been out for almost a month.

Yeah, it would have to have staying power to not be a disappointment, but the way this movie was hyped and the fact that the reviews are out now, I would be suprised if it made more than $8mil next weekend and $35mil overall. Those lookin' forward to it have already seen it, who's left?

The reviews are pretty decent, though. over 60% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Keep in mind that it is rated R, that really limits the audience. A lot of movies that try ti gross as much as possible keep their ratings PG 13 on purpose. I like the fact that Snakes didnt cater to the masses and are doing their thing.
