Japan's charts are 100% owned by the Nintendo DS with much of the games selling millions of copies, and FF3 DS debuting with a half a million sales. Not much of a surprise considering it has dominated for more than a year and has been selling out for all of this year.

Christ, quit buying old games! On that note, nobody cares about GameTap, because we can do the same thing with an emulator!

If the current games aren't as good, then you buy the re-releases of the old stuff. There are still spectacular games being released (Shadow of the Colossus, Guitar Hero), but they're getting buried and less often than the many sports, racing, GTA-clones, and me-too RPGs out there.

Besides, FF3 has never been released here and hadn't seen a release since the NES in Japan, it's gonna sell.
