Inspite these crazy fanatics, i'm starting to believe in religion being a good thing. My wife and I have begun going to a nondemoninational Christian church and the people that work and go there are all fantastic good people.

Me too, which is why organized religion is such a crock. If someone wants to have faith, go ahead. You can do it with the way you conduct your life. Going to church and donating is NOT a way to be religious.

You underestimate the importance of having a collective body of people with the same faith spending time together and worshipping in that faith together. Plus, good churches do a lot of good things. How else are they supposed to function without donations (which aren't forced of course because they're donations)?

There's much to be said for the individual having faith seperate from a physical grouping of people or a church. I totally agree that that is important, but there is importance in the physical gathering as well.

The thing is that when the fanaticism and fundimentalism starts coming out and people begin to become out of touch with their surroundings and the world...that's when it begins to be a problem.

I don't think you understand all of the things a church does besides house worship services. It's not as narrowly focused as that.
