  • Update on Virtual Console and New HUGE Wii shipment figures

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

-Shipments of Wii have been officially increased. Four million Wii units will be shipped to the US during the first six weeks. This will be the largest shipment in US history to date.

-A list of virtual console games is kept on the Wii system, so a game can be deleted and re-downloaded for free. Though games saved to an SD memory card cannot be played on other Wii units, they are locked to the system they were downloaded from. Accounts can be transfered from one system to another in certain cases, this requires a Nintendo rep to be called.

-All virtual console games will be playable using a Gamecube controller, a classic controller, or the Wii Remote. Gamecube games require the Gamecube controller.

-All virtual console games will come with a digital copy of the game manual.

My comments: hey, I think Ubisoft and Nintendo may have hit a goldmine here, it is Ubisoft games + Zelda that are going to be the major sellers this holiday season. There is not much else available during the first 6 weeks.

wait...what?

I haven't been paying too much attention to Wii news other than it's gonna kick PS3's ass in sales.. what's this virtual console? You can download games from older systems and play them on it?

Essentially that is what it is. Games will be made available for NES, SNES, N64, Commodore 64, Turbo Graphx 16, and Sega Genesis.

Man, Nintendo know how to make money. They are going to make scary amounts of cash out of the VC alone.

I love the fact it saves the games you've d'loaded and lets you re d'load them for free. That's a great idea, so are the manuals.
