Yep, it's very possible. I just downloaded the program and am going to attempt it with a Naruto ep by transferring it using my digital camera. I'll let you know how it turns out

I posted this earlier, and you said it was a useless feature.

Did you even read the link Zeus posted? It has nothing to do with Wii Channels.

Yep, he missed it completely

Of course, my digital camera won't allow transferring to the card, so I'll have to wait 'til I get myself a card reader

So you are saying this has absolutely nothing to do with the Wii video channel?

That's pretty cool.

Where do you get more info on how to use it? I can convert, but I'm not sure if you can burn it to a DVD and watch or if it has to be put onto an SD card.

I think, though I am not entirely sure, that is has to be on an SD memory card. Unfortunately the ones with DVD capacity are still up around $100-150 at the cheapest.

Wii Channels is an open system for doing... stuff. It's a framework, not a feature itself. They probably will use it to shows videos, but not necessarily what you want to see. Zeus posted a method for taking watching your own video files on a Wii. The only similarities between the two are superficial and uninteresting.

I am asking Zeus, not you Kupek; sorry that you were confused by that. He said he was not interested in using the Wii for videos because a PC could do it better. I'm just pointing out the irony that he is the first one here to actually use the Wii for something other than a gaming feature when he was the one person (besides those people who had no plans to buy the Wii) who were against using it for any other purpose than gaming =)

I suppose this could have been handled via PM's then.

Seek, like Kupek said, it's more of an exploitation of the system rather than a built-in feature. I somehow doubt Nintendo set up a Wii Video Channel to allow you to convert and watch downloaded movies or TV shows on the Wii. So, it really isn't related to the original post of the channels as this was not an option or brought up during that discussion. And I still stand by my original declaration of the Wii channels: they're there and you can have fun with them a little, but they don't make or break the system. And I find myself getting bored of the Photo and Mii channels rather quickly. My friends and family seem to enjoy the Mii stuff, but it does nothing for me. We'll see if anything else is added and when I get online for the weather and VC, but right now, this video conversion is the only thing that interests me. I'll likely be entertained by the Mii Parade thing for an evening, but I don't anticipate much longer than that.

I got a 1GB card and I think I can fit a 44 minute episode on that, but I'll have to check. Definetely not a full movie unless I go to a 2GB or 4GB card. The program appears to convert it to straight mpeg (as opposed to mpeg 2 or mpeg 4 like for the PSP), so we'll see if it's even worth it. I'd also like to see how the interface works. If it's too clunky, I won't care.

Right, we were talking about it being a DVD player and NOT about converting and watching stuff from your harddrive using an SD card

This hasn't changed. And if this came up now and I didn't have the system, it sure as hell wouldn't sway my decision.
