Just like the series on PSX, it looks to be a Gear-Strategy game, I don't really know much about the series.

http://www.the-magicbox.com/0612/game061212f.shtml Heroes of Mana

Looks to be Final Fantasy Tactics meets Seiken Densetsu.

http://www.the-magicbox.com/0612/game061212b.shtml Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Now, don't get me wrong, the concept of the world for this game seems extremely creative, interesting, and fun; it is just that they put it together in a very bad way the last time around. I really hope things are fixed this time. It could be a reletively good game if they don't repeat what they did last time.

On a related note, FFT is being remade for the PSP

According to who? Jeremy Parish on 1up's Retronauts podcast pined for a PSP port of FFT, but I haven't heard anything anywhere.

I suppose it would help if I looked at the news instead of just listening to podcasts (for some reason, listening to people talk about videogames really appeals to me when I'm coding/running experiments/doing data entry).

Sorry, forgot the link on that one

Seek, the Front Mission series started on the SNES and was huge in Japan but we never got it here. The outcry is what led to Front Mission 3 for the PSX being released here. It'll also explain why #3 was the only one you could find here.

As this is a remake of the original, I'd be willing to bet there's a good chance we'll see it here. #4 sold like crap (maybe 'cause it was crap?) on the PS2 but I'll bet they'll take their chances with a DS remake here. Less risk.

And good job in deleting that post. Noticed the link after the fact, huh? :-)

Don is the only one, I think, I have ever heard talk about the series before. I don't know much about it. I thought it was a PSX series; all three are available on PSX.

Looks like the plan is for an english release of Dragon Quest 9.
You don't say?! =o
You're right, I guess that was quite obvious =P

Anyways, if the FFT remake comes to other systems, I will consider it. Though it depends on what they do with it as well, if the music is changed then it is blasphemy =)

Though what the original translators did with the spelling can already be considered blasphemy =P

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 is probably one I'll look at depending on where they take the story. The first one seemed to have a very interesting world, but not really a story. Then again, I have heard that it does pick up later on and I just didn't play long enough =P

Don't mention "crystal" and "chronic" in the same sentence around a pothead, dude. For a second, I thought Squeenix was making a marijuana-based sequel to Crystal Chronicles...

I would kill for a retranslated FFT. Dunno that I'd buy a PSP for it, though :).

Yea, I haven't been to vocal on Front Mission..... BUT I LOVE IT!!!

I love 3 and 4. I played 1 and 2 a bit back in the day on emulators but could never find a good translation of them.

I'm pumped for Front Mission on the DS. Im anxious to see how they use the touch screen in a game like that, i.e. will it just be gimmicky like menu selection to say "we put it in!" or something that actually alters the way the game is played (aiming, etc.).

And now I find out that there is a Front Mission 5 that was never released in North America.... sonofabitch now I want it.

I very likely will buy a PSP if Alexander O. Smith (Vagrant Story, FFXII) is handling the translation. *sigh* Better start saving...

Yeah, that would be enough to push me over the edge, too. I really don't want a PSP and I would prefer a remade FFT on almost any other system, but a translation by Smith would be enough to get me to buy one.

If I ever bought a portable, it would be a DS Lite. Tactics would be nice (and particularly a retranslation), but I can always play it on my PS2. The DS has no must-have games for me, but many fun looking ones, and it can play the three GBA games I have (which I played on a GB Player via my Gamecube). But at the moment, my next big purchase will be a Wii.

But I do see the appeal in the PSP, if you want a portable media device and a gaming system.

The PSP is a beautiful-looking thing but sucks for portable gaming (ie, its primary purpose). Its controls are awful; the disc drive is hideously slow and sucks battery life like a hungry demon; and over here in Australia, at least, it remains hideously expensive.

I wish wish wish they'd announced this FFT remake for a console, or the DS.

It will probably eventually come out for other systems with even more features if it follows the trend of other popular PSP games (such as GTA3 Liberty City Stories).

if you ever get a DS, let us know and we can recommend some good stuff. There are lots of games that are better than they look for that system. It really does have a great library that's only getting better

Phoenix Wright would be the first game that I would recommend. As far as fun games go, this one ranks up there with the best of them.

The latest really fun game, though one that has been largely overlooked, at this point (mainly due to Wii, Gears of War, and Zelda) is EBA (Elite Beat Agents) which I am finding myself play more than any other game at the moment.

No offense guys, but I do actually read videogame stuff on my own (I actually read about videogames far more than I play them). So I can handle that myself.

Ditto that. I was talking about this with my cousin aeons ago and he said that if someone gave him offered the choice between playing a game, and reading Edge (a lovely British gaming magazine), he'd have to think really hard about it. I have as much fun participating in games culture (reading mags and websites, and talking about it with friends in real life and places like the Shrine) as I do actually playing games.

Then it should not bother you to read a little bit more.

But we can tell you what the consumer, rather than the reviewer, thinks. Like Pac Pix, for instance. I think, particularly for the price, it's one of the best buys on the system. But you won't find too many reviewers saying "THIS IS GREAT".

I actually spend more time reading (all of it at work) about games and half as much time collecting than I do playing in a week. I'm hard-pressed to get more than 5 hours of gaming in a week now

That's true, I would put Phoenix Wright above most of these so called 10/10 games that some reviewers present.

Front mission trailer for the DS, since it's called the first and contains the same art and graphics and levels as the first one..... I can only assume that it is a remake..... but I could be wrong.... fancy new cutscene(s?) though

Thanks for the trailer, the game looks quite interesting. Roughly, it looks to Advance Wars what FFT is to Fire Emblem.
