• Any Burning Crusade stories?

 • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

For some reason at where I work we got more people camping out for The Burning Crusade than Wii + PS3 put together. Several guys went out for the midnight release, including a guy who cannot obtain a driver's license who had to take a cab to get to the nearest EB/Gamestop/whatever. One guy took more than a week off to try to get to level 70 (he's level 68 as of yesterday so he should be back in a few days).

As for the game itself, I like it but the lore has devolved into grade B fanfiction stuff, though since the lead quest writer of WoW was an ex EQ guildleader/fanfiction writer turned designer, maybe that's not surprising. It is literally impossible to do anything in Burning Crusade that is not epic. I think the level 66 Cavern of Time quest signfies this the best: "These missions are ranked from least catastrophic to most catastrophic. Note that failing any mission labeled as 'catastrophic' means the world you know of will cease to exist." Saving the world has never been so easy, and never been so mundane. I expect to have saved the world as we know it at least 10 times by the time I hit level 70, if not more. I guess it's a good thing no one actually reads the text that goes along with the quests.

I have the xpack but as I just started playing about 2 weeks ago, I am only level 25 and have thus not really seen any of the xpack info except for Silvermoon City.

"I watched Skip playing this the other day, and all he did was walk. We were talking for like fifteen minutes and that was all he was doing. That sounds awesome. Where do I sign up?"

"Eight million forest walkers can't be wrong."
(Stolen from the latest 1up Yours podcast.)

Sorry for brining the hate into the thread here, but it's just too funny not to share.

Heh, there have been some things that have made me bend but not break on the lore as a whole in BC.

One of the main complaints about the original WoW was that you were fighting no names, who you'd never heard of before and had no real pressence in the overall lore in the game. So in BC they decided to throw out as many names as they possibley could and try and involve the player in it.

I'm level 68 atm, leveling a Warrior sucks since they butchered our class to hell and back. First 70 on the server is in my guild, got it in 3 days. heh.

60-64 day 1, 64-68 day 2, 69-70 last day(Thursday @ around noob, 2 days after it came out).

I thought Caverns of Time is a good idea but it's really hard to suspend your sense of belief to accept that a level 66 mission, if failed, will cause the world to cease to exist.

If original WoW is rather un-epic, the expansion is probably too epic.

just by reading this thread I am once again very, VERY glad I quit WoW over a year and a half ago...

Thanks for reminding me things could be a lot worse ;)

If you play WoW like a Diablo 3 that you happen to have to pay a monthly fee for, it's actually quite a good game.

Nah, its no Diablo 3. D2 i loved and played the hell out of, so i tried WoW and it was too slow paced for me, D2 is fast, and fun. Plus, with no D2 Hardcore equivalent, all MMORPG are weak. If they had a HC server, then id probably play. All or nothing, baby!

You could always delete your character after you die and see how far you get that way.

On another note, the demons in the expansion all look pretty cool, while the Naaru which seems to be someone's interpretation of an angel/seraph from playing Xenogears, looks quite stupid. Come to think of it, in every Blizzard game any demonic being looks pretty cool while their angelic counterparts always look dumb. Archangel Tyrael looks like he has some kind of cheap tentacles instead of wings for example.
