A little off topic, but still on the topic of violent videogames.
I think a good question might be why do violent videogames sell as well as they do? In Japan, it is clear that gun related games do not sell nearly as well as they do here; the survival and horror gere is a bit exempt since firing guns is not really the core of the gameplay, the puzzle solving is. I do feel culture is something that needs to be examined.
