  • Wow, all the power is out in all those cities.....I must say I can't help but think about Captain Planet and his energy conversing warnings.

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>Read the stories. One went down, and other plants tried rerouting power to compensate for the loss. This overloaded the transmission lines and transformers, so failsafes shut everything down - like a circuit breaker. Better to shut it all down for a few hours than to have permanent damage.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>Sounds like their backup plan for plants going down needs work. If it's just going to shutdown the NE US, what's the point of having a rerouting plan in the first place?</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>From what I've read, the transmission lines are old. There's no profit in upgrading them, so that hasn't happened. But if you want a more accurate analysis, read one of the many stories on one of the many newspapers online.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt Dominion; text-align: left; '>companies don't give a shit about loss prevention. If there's one thing I've learned at my blue collar summer job it's that they all go by the phrase "if it ain't broken don't fix it"</div>
