Rampage defeated Chuck Liddell for the second time. This time via knockout for the UFC light heavyweight championship

Just as a reminder for Kali:

Bon appetit

LOL, good job shoving Kali's words in his face. :)

BTW, great but somewhat anti climatic fight. I saw it at a sports bar and everyone was stunned for a split second with the knockout. We'd barely gotten settled into our chairs to check out this "classic".

All I can say is...wow.

Heh, the first fight was a classic, this one was just Rampage getting the job done and getting off work early =P:

It was actually a good staredown, Rampage looked very confident about this one. Rampage taking the dominant position at the beginning of the fight, keeping Chuck circling. Rampage chased him around the octagon a bit, and then at a point taunted him by holding his arms wide open "Come on Chuck!" and then Chuck came in right away in and Rampage calmly staves off the attack. Rampage icrcles around more, cuts Chuck off, and Chuck is forced to start throwing, Rampage counter-punches (just like their first fight) and cracks him with a couple of hooks over Chuck's punches. Chuck backs off, Rampage follows, and there is another exchange, Rampage cracks him right on the jaw with a brutal overhand right, and Chuck crumples to the ground. Rampage is a wrestler, it never even came to that this time around.

That is literally everything that happened. Talk about an icebreaker.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Dan Henderson battle Rampage for the Light Heavyweight title. Chuck Liddell's next fight is going to be against Wanderlei Silva.

No wonder the guys in the apartment two over started screaming the other night. I looked through the window and saw they were watching UFC...

Heh, I need to start watching Pride/UFC again. I noticed a thing on ESPN with UFC vs. Boxing. The UFC rep (dude from Fear Factor, forgot his name) was owning the boxing rep. Boxing just doesn't cut it. Boxing is both comical in its rules for just focusing on one aspect of fighting, and more damaging to boxers who suffer from brain damage from so many blows to the head. (Refs in UFC, in contrast, will end the match the moment there's a clear sign of defeat.)

My dad, when I was talking about this (we were in a Chiles watching the thing on ESPN), talked about something he heard about bareknuckles boxing. The sport, while bloodier on the outside, ends up being a helluva lot safer than regular boxing. You don't see the grapefruit-sized welts and massive bruising in BK boxing.

Boxing gloves are not there to protect the other guy's face. They were introduced in order to stop people from breaking their hands hitting other people, AFAIK.

Heh, I finally got around to watching Sunday afternoon - and as soon as I saw it I *knew* you'd be posting. And gimme credit...I'm have mod powers after all, if I was gonna abuse em, this woulda been the time :)

Disappointing fight, for me...both the result and the actual fight. You put two heavy hitters together and anything can happen, but that was rather anti-climatic. Plus I hate Rampage. The after interview/banter just sealed it for me...I want fighters to be paid well, but people like Rampage just scream 'in-it-for-the-money-only'.

They'll rematch (regardless of if Rampage holds onto the title), it can only be better than this last fight.
