Make sure those motherless fucks extend your warranty to 3 years. Get them to give you a confirmation number to confirm it's been extended so you could always go back to themBlack Lotus wrote:I'm back up (towel trick).
Request already put in at service.xbox.com for a replacement. All I need is for it to stay alive long enough for me to play the damn demo.
Decided to download with the system off. Probably a safer bet.
I see no sources on that. And given that I now *can't play* one of my CDs due to Sony's rootkit tactics, I'm really really reluctant to believe this as anything other than Sony marketing spin.bovine wrote:you could always get a system that has no games and doesn't explode.
Nothing I had any control over. It and the power supply sits about a foot and a half off the carpet on a wooden bookshelf, surrounded by nothing. I think I'll try and lay my next one horizontally.Nev wrote:Speaking of damage - Blotus - I have my 360 relatively high off the ground on a table, but with the power brick on the ground, on carpet. Usual temperature in the room is from 70-85F, no A/C. Have never had a problem, though I rarely leave mine on for more than, say, eight hours at a time, and usually more like three. What happened to badring your system?
Everything is one year, 3 rings is 3 yearsOracle wrote:I just bought an elite. Did I hear correctly somewhere that all elites were extended to 3 year warranty due to some abnormal failure rates, or is this just wishful thinking?
The 3 ring problem is nothing anyone can avoid... it's just a lottery draw as to whether it happens to your or not.Black Lotus wrote: Nothing I had any control over. I hope the system is unfixable and MicroSHAFT decides to send me one of the new ones with an HDMI port... HA! I wish is more like it.

Turnaround time for mine was pretty good, once I got it sent off (I had to call them a bunch of times over a period of about a week to get them to email me the receipt I needed to attach to the 360 before I could send it). I got it back within around a week of sending it.
(you were being a real asshole earlier in the thread, BTW, Nev :|)
My 360 had been fitfully working, but now it's completely shot.Black Lotus wrote:I just dropped mine off for shipping. Hopefully I'll have it before the end of next week.
And that blows, Nev. I hope your replacement is a speedy one.
This is the fourth dead console for me (well fifth if you count both 360's). My original NES died as well as my first PS1 and PS2.
Keep bugging the shit out of them 'til they send you a repair box. The repair centre is great but the call centre is filled with retarded monkeys following protocol. You literally have to call and bug the fuck out of them EVERY SINGLE TIME something happens. Also, insist on them giving you something in return for the hassle, like a free copy of PGR3, PDZ, or Kameo. But you have to call regularly for thatNev wrote:My 360 had been fitfully working, but now it's completely shot.Black Lotus wrote:I just dropped mine off for shipping. That's what I get for having faith in Microsoft, I suppose. Stupid, stupid fuckers. I wonder what junior engineer just out of college is responsible for the engineering boondoggle that's fried almost the entire first generation of 360's. Guess I'd better get on that repair call.
The 360 call centre really is appallingly bad. Fea and I had to call them probably seven or eight times in total to organise for my 360 to be sent off.Zeus wrote:...the call centre is filled with retarded monkeys following protocol. I had to go through a lot of motions before I got mine sent off. Although I did get 3 free games from them :-)Andrew, Killer Bee wrote:The 360 call centre really is appallingly bad.
