The one where millions of dollars were raised and JK Rowling offered a multi million dollar reward for information leading to the return of the girl?

There is evidence which suggests that her parents accidently killed her and hid the body. They are now prime suspects in the death of their daughter.

Thousands of people are either murdered or go missing every day in the world. Why the fuck is this news? Is the family rich? Are they famous? Is this a missing single white female (MSWF)? What hook did the news look for to suddenly be interested in this case? Why is there an international fucking effort to find this kid, and why the fuck does JK Rowlings give a shit?

Seriously, if this was a kid from a poor black family, we wouldn't have seen any international effort, no news article, and nobody would have cared.

*man talking to a group of reporters*

"We are looking for a missing girl. *some additional information* Please help us find Shaneeqa"

"awwww"
*reporters get all pissed off and leave*
"That's not news"

She had a few things going for her:
1) Cute child
2) British child
3) Parents were doctors
4) Her parents freaked out when she went missing
5) She was the latest victim of Some Puertorican Guy.

Well, you do that enough, and the news just becomes numb. It's like, "Yeah, today, we have another cute white girl who's...why the fuck am I reporting this? I did the same shit yesterday, and the day before, and the day before."

Why not report on a, man, I can't even think of a situation where a kidnapping would be interesting or newsworthy. A kid with three arms; or at least something that might have appeared on Fark, or just something original.

Then again, that totally goes against the point that everybody else with low-profile kidnappings or murders or whatever isn't going to get much help with their case.

I don't think the purpose of news is to be entertaining. That's what tabloids do, like The Sun, CNN, and Fox. They're also not particularly trustworthy sources either because they ignore most of the important details and elaborate on subjects that work people up.

HAHAHA! That's a laugh. So naive, Seeker. No, news, from the standpoint of our founding fathers, was never intended to be entertainment. But, here we are, being entertained by news, getting caught up in the drama of some little girl possibly getting murdered by her parents. Nevermind that this sort of thing happens all the time, but never gets this much exposure.

Oh, and who's reporting this? Well, the 24-hour news networks are competing for the hottest female newscaster it seems. It's hard to find a generic male newscaster, unless he has some sort of angle, like O RLY, or Lou Dobbs, or any of talk news, where they give a guy a full half-hour. But, the generic ones on the 24h stations, I don't even know of ANY male newscasters. They are all female.

Those are tabloids, not real news channels. I am sure there are some real American news stations somewhere, just don't look in the direction of stuff like CNN or Fox.

Because it had a weird outcome, wasn't that obvious?
