Ok, so I was thinking about making a few new headers for the Shrine, all different themes. I've already made a Mario based one, planned on doing a Metriod one next, just need to come up with some more themes.

I was thinking that we could have the headers randomize on page change, with the ability to "Pause" or "Hold" one up there until you "unpause" or whatever.

I envisioned that everyone could participate in contributing as well. I can provide a template so that it fits, and you put whatever you want on it, with the title, and if "approved" it goes into rotation.

Good idea? annoying?

Ya need a MS-character one...Master Chief, Revan, twits from Blue Dragon, Ryu, HK47, Atlas, Beyond G&E cast, etc. Not nearly as many characters as Nintendo or Sony, but enough for a themed header (Jade Empire, TES series and Mass Effect all have some nice character art as well, though a tad more obscure and unknown).

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea.

Bioshock one with Big Daddy would be great. Some sort of Guitar Hero/Rock Band one would be coo. And Master Chief and BG& E ones suggested by Kali.

Something non-gaming as well, maybe Naruto or Death Note or Heroes or 24 or something. A lot of us watch anime and TV as much as we play games.

Could you have certain ones for certain forums? That way you could even do political or sports ones for DS or something while having anime/movie/TV ones for M&M and gaming ones for Gamethought.

And having a sticky or something where we can provide our own for approval by other Shriners is a fantastic idea. We would need to establish the approval details (ie. how many need to vote for it, within what time period, etc.) as well as what is or is not "appropriate" (ie. can Derith have is cock and balls or can I put in my Laetitia ones?). But there would also be an upkeep requirement, we don't want to have 1000 different ones where you never yours after an hour on the site.

Great idea. Sine would have to answer that one. I dream it up, he codes it ;)

Definitely, but it doesn't all have to be collages like the current one. My Mario theme actually looks like a level from the game, I had the same idea for the Metriod one. I'll post it later today.

Great idea! It all sounds good to me. If I have some time, I'd throw a possible header together. :)

Sine said that would make it too complicated. Mainly because the URL to a post does not have an identifier in it to tell you what board it's coming from.

There's a way to do it, but it would take too much time for such a little thing, as it would take the code from a simple javascript, to a fullblown script calling up a database, etc.

When you are dating, they'll move mountains for you. When you are married, everything becomes "too much work".

Exactly!!!

In all seriousness, I do know what's involved in making that work, and it isn't worth it really.

I'm all for it. I'd love to see the forum descriptions revised or gone completely as well.

I agree. If it is that much work just not worth it. Although I am finding a lot of that with programmers. I'm working with a brilliant one right now to create a game (we're doin' it through XNA; hey, easiest way to get your foot in the door) and he's always creating boundaries for me. It's like the job of a programmer :-)

Excellent smart-ass comment, Kali :-)

What if we create a sub-forum in Creations specifically for header submissions? Each submission is a post and if it gets more thumbs up replies than thumbs down, then we add it tot he rotation.

The success of this will be dependent on participation. It's no fun if I am the only one making them!

We'd need easy submission for us geezers here who basically will be downloading the template, saving it, then uploading it to the tows server

BTW, here's the Mario one.

ImageImageImage

The image is broken into 3 parts. This way it can stretch to fit any width resolution. The background is something repeatable so it can fill in the gaps between the 3 images.

Nice header! :)

Here's an idea: let's get photos of each of us and then make that a header!

Or actually, scratch that. I don't think we need certain people knowing what we look like. (see thread below...)
