Lotus suggested it, so here it is. Pretty much every good game coming out this year is out so we're not gonna end up with a suprise title between now and the end of the year.

I left out the handhelds (Castlevania Drac X, FF12:RW) 'cause I don't think they have a prayer in such an awesome time for games. And I only put in the ones since August 'cause I think they're the only ones that have a chance right now. I left out PS3 games because, well, let's just say the PS3 is slightly lacking in quality titles and I don't think Ratchet, essentially the only game that came out on the system this year that's worth it, will stand a chance against the titles I've listed.

The voting's open 'til New Year just to give time for people to actually play the games. I know I'm having a helluva time getting through anything right now and those of you in school will need time/money which you won't have 'til later. 'Cause voting's open for so long, I can update some of the options if people see fit although I think I've captured any game that has a chance in hell.

Tough one, but I have to vote for Galaxy. It is that damned good. I don't think anything's gonna change since I've played an hour or more of nearly everything else down there (stupid EA not giving me Rock Band yet) and I put them all aside for this insanely fun game. Playing this game feels just as fresh as playing Mario 64 for me...and I rented a Jap system and played it for 10 hours straight just so I can play it ASAP. I thought I was too jaded by now to get like this over a game but I was proven wrong. This game really reminded me why I got into gaming to begin with: sheer fun. I'm ankerin' to get home tonight to play it.

Mind you, any other year and Bioshock, Mass Effect, or The Orange Box could easily have won for me. There's just too much amazing stuff right now, particularly with the ultimate trump card in Mario.

Incredible year for games. I have to go with Mass Effect at this point. I doubt my mind will change.

Shout out to God of War 2, which was released earlier in the year.

I love ME but Mario Galaxy is the most fun I've had with a game in a long long long time...just uber awesome simple fun

Game - IGN/Gamespot/Gamerankings
1. Super Mario Galaxy - 97/95/97.4
2. The Orange Box - 95/95/96.2
3. Halo 3 - 95/95/93.2
4. Bioshock - 97/90/94.9
5. Rock Band - 94/90/91.2
6. Mass Effect - 94/85/92.1
7. Metroid Prime 3 - 95/85/90.1
8. Assassin's Creed - 75/90/83.9

Assassin's creed probably shouldn't be on that list since more desrving titles have been released this year. Like Resident Evil 4 Wii edition: 90 by IGN, 91 by gamespot, 91.2 by Gamerankings.

I have to go with Bioshock, as much as I love Mass Effect it was just a better put together game.

Now this is assuming we're doing Game of the Year based on quality-- Halo 3 would win flat out for profit generated.

It's a personal thing, not a ranking/sales thing. I put it on there 'cause it's high profile and likely played by most

I think more people here played RE4 Wii than Assassin's Creed or Metroid 3 at least. Although it is your poll and I know from my Greek mythology that you are corrupt.

I cannot vote until I've played Uncharted, Rock Band, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect.

For God's sake, do you need to get your panties in a bunch about every fucking thing? RE4, contender for most perfect game of all time though it is, was released in 2005. If we consider it for 2007 GOTY we should be considering every fucking VC, PSN and XBLA re-release also. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST CAN YOU STOP PUSHING YOUR AGENDA FOR FIVE FUCKING SECONDS GRARARRRR

It's a re-release, not even a remake. Doesn't qualify.

I think Mr.Plaidshirt is mad because he did not get the memo that it was the diamond print shirts that are in. Perhaps if he was to check his inbox more often, his problems would be solved.

Haha, I only edited to remove a second "also" from my third sentence.

That I cared enough to do this, and remember it, indicates deep mental illness on my behalf, I think.

Bioshock. Orange Box comes in a close 2nd, followed by Mass Effect. I would pick Mass Effect first, but its bugs drag the score down. I think this is in line with Game Informer, as they gave Bioshock a perfect 10, and Mass Effect somewhere in the 9s.

The Orange Box, while was a great set of games, is almost a re-release of a few older games. Portal, which would have been an excellent standout, just wasn't long enough to qualify the rest of the Orange Box to be #1. Besides, Bioshock was the reason why I got an 360 (or rather the straw/camel/back), so that has to mean something.
