This is one of the better comedies I've seen all year.

If you haven't heard of this movie, it's a semi-indie flick like Little Miss Sunshine that became a surprise big-hit, like Little Miss Sunshine, and has been re-released for mass audiences, like Little Miss Sunshine.

Basically, it's a lot like Little Miss Sunshine, at least in terms of comedic/dramatic blend. It's also, in my opinion, a bit better.

It's the story of Juno, an off-beat 16-year old girl who randomly has sex with her best friend and gets impregnated--much to everyone's surprise, including herself. The story kicks off then basically detailing how she deals with it, and it's the journey from conception to creation that spurs on one of the funnier and richer character dramas we've seen in quite a bit of time.

It's got a lot of sharp, funny dialogue and a cast of characters who all seem to be alarmingly alive, even the ones who only have a single scene. It's got a touching amount of family connections, parrallelisms and a lot of characters who are either too afraid or too eager to grow up and settle down to appreciate the minor joys around them, and those minor joys ultimately become the focus of the film, as there's no plot twist or moral lesson to the story--it's not really about surprising the viewer, because we're already rather surprised with just how fun and smart the movie is.

I highly reccomend you all see it, especially the ones of you here who happen to have a parasitic fetus of your own spawning inside you, as it gives you an outlet to enjoy the humor in the situation, but with less of the rampant vulgarity that turned a lot of people off of Knocked Up.

I'm going to see it at some point. Ellen Page is from here. She's kind of the big shit in Halifax.

Oh yeah, there's that Sidney Crosby guy too.

No I didn't. I purposely ignored him because he played for some crappy St. Louis farm team.
