alright, let me give me post-christmas videogame regiment to you for your full understanding of my impressions of the game..... I ran through uncharted:drake's fortune because I thought it was going to be terrible, but it was gorgeous and great and had the most amazing speech animation that I have ever seen. Then it was Ratchet and Clank:Future that was a big snorefest disappointment. Then off to Assassin's Creed that blew away my initial expectations of crappiness. It was pretty awesome, but I was getting a little bored by the last 2 missions. So I had basically gone through the games with the greatest console graphics ever, and then on to mass effect. The first thing I noticed were how the textures enjoyed drawing in while in cutscene or when I was playing the game. That was super lame, and the graphics were not really as good as I thought they were going to be. The speech animation was good for lip-syncing, but other than that it was kind of just average. I really hated the combat system during my first play-through and up until the end when I was amazing and unable to be killed sue to completing many side mission, it was just too easy. The story was pretty amazing though (except that it's EXACTLY like the matrix storyline), I really enjoyed each and every NPC that joined your crew, thought the love/sex sidestory was pretty neat, enjoyed romping across the galaxy to save some dude being held by some L2s, and LOVED the ending. I'm on my second play-through right now, and I'm enjoying it, wished I had ramped the difficulty up a bit though. It seems much easier now that I know where all the enemies are, and I didn't get the hang of giving orders to my team until the 3/4 of my first playthrough.
I haven't read your guys' Mass Effect-related posts and threads since I did not want to spoil anything, so this is just my opinion on the game. Oracle told me to pour my points into Charm or Intimidate as his non-spoiler helpfulness, and that made some of the game easier for me. It was like KOTOR, but more exciting with the real-time combat. I hope they make it look better and don't hand the IP over to some idiots for a crappy sequel like the KOTOR2. That game was a pain.
over and out.
