For those who are uncertain about what this is, it is the fourth game in the Ace Attorney series. It features new DS mechanics similar to those in Phoenix Wright case 5. The game takes place 7 years after the final case in Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations. There was a Special Edition Japanese version of the game which came with a special Ace Attorney Encyclopedia DS card; whether this will be released in North America is unknown. Yes, there will be characters from the original trilogy making appearances in this new section of the Ace Attorney series.
In addition, there is a Manga based on the Phoenix Wright series being released in North America this year, though the release date for issue #1 is not confirmed, I have seen dates which include March 25th, April 29th, and late this summer. It seems to expand upon the original story as it as there are a number of new characters and cases. I have not looked up any further details. I do hope there is a nice epilogue after 3-5 because I would really like to see more of what happens with the characters after the story is done =)
Third thing, there is a fifth game set for release in Japan in the middle of May. The second of the DS exclusive series.
I finally finished Trials and Tribulations, it got to a point where I just could not put the game down, I was in and out of sleep throughout last night after I got home, playing the game all my waking hours until I finally finished it late this morning. I must say, that is one of the most intense sections I have ever come across in anything I have ever read. The entire story of the series is the best I think I have ever come across in a videogame. I think there have maybe been two endings that have ever compared to me, Final Fantasy 8's and Xenosaga Episode 3's.
Anyway, happy to see that 2008 is shaping up to be a great year for fans of this series. There's enough game here to thoroughly enjoy the trilogy again in a full playthrough which I plan to do this summer. I don't have nearly enough time to do it before Apollo Justice; it took me two and a half months to get through Trials and Tribulations. I have FF12 DS to hold me off for a while, and the game is oddly VERY VERY good, but I won't hesitate to put it on hold if I don't finish it in the next 40 days.
