That looks awesome, I was getting slightly tired of the Star Wars homage. :)

WTF is up with the last page? Is that an "Engine Sword"?

How about I take this Laptop and merge it with a sword? I'll call it a LappyBlade!

Ah, yes, the last great FF game (haven't tried 12 yet....). We shall miss the fantasy setting which is dying a slow death

That's because Dragon Quest likes beat that setting like a dead horse, then piss on it, then rape it with a 2 foot iron dildo, then pour a gallon of gasoline on it and set it on fire.

And quite frankly, the story for FF12 sucked. If you want a good fantasy story, look at FFT instead.

I love the aesthetic, but more importantly, Nomura seems to be going back to a sort of FFVIII art direction, which is NEVER a bad thing.

I dig the style, it's not overtly futuristic--even though I know it is, in actuality, so maybe this'll be good.

Gameplay and character interaction will clinch it for me.

Wake me when it's 2009. I don't give a shit about either game at this point.

FF8, in my opinion still has the best art of the series. It had a very pleasant and real tone to it, not hard and metallic, or hard and stone; much more organic. If I had to pick a game world to live in, it would be Final Fantasy 8's. I mean, Garden is a place I would love to live in, but I would also LOVE to live in places like Dollet or Balamb as well... Shumi village would be quite a lot of fun to visit too =)

The Shumi technology in FF8 was awesome.

The FF series has completely lost its luster to me. FF9 was spectacular but it was an oddity in the post-SNES FF. I have yet to try 12 but don't care at all about either 13 game. I'm more looking forward to the remakes of the SNES ones than any new one that's coming.

Let's hope they remake Chrono Trigger too, that would be amazing

Actually, I find that from FF8-12 (excluding 11) that FF9 was the weakest entry. FF12 did a lot of things right (for example, the battle system was something much more tolerable than all previous games), but I had a problem with the size of the world, it was massive, but unlike games like Skies of Arcadia there was not much variation and it was no where near as exciting to explore. The dungeons and towns were also massive, but not in a good way, I don't think the towns had as many people to talk to or things to do as did FF8; which easily had the most things to do of any FF game to date (though FF12 is probably #2)

I would buy FF12 for the excellent gameplay. They fixed everything right that was wrong with RPG mechanics. Plus, building those autotask thingies was fun.

I also found that fun, it was a game on its own.

Just to add a bit to my previous post: If I recall FF12 correctly, there were some very beautiful and interesting locations, but there were some towns (like the one on that floating island) that were just a WHOLE lot of nothing. Not all the cities were bad, some were excellent, but most of the time they just had certain portions that were cool, and a lot that was boring. I really liked the way Final Fantasy 10 had people all over the continent and islands, it added a lot to the world.

Final Fantasy 8 though, I found that every inch of every town (except Esthar) had something special or interesting about it, there was a huge attention to detail not seen in any other Final Fantasy game to date; though FF13 may change that by being the second.

I thought the futuristic FF7 and 8 (little less so) was just a fad when they went back to the fantasy'ness of FF9, but i guess i was wrong since FF10-13 are all extreme modern with magic environments. I like the world of FF11, but dont like MMO's so sucks for me.

I do like the sci-fi stories, but they don't do it right. It's like they want to push into a sci-fi, but then get mucked up into something fantasy-like again, almost like a rubber band being pulled back and snapped. (The beginning and actual reality of FF7 is a good example of that.)

Didn't play Final Fantasy 6? Kitase designed both 6 and 7 with a similar tech level in mind. He also worked on and largely influenced FF8 and 10. He is currently on 13.

Yes yes, we had this discussion before and i proved you wrong again by posting a poll, most everyone agreed that FF6 has a much less technological feel than FF7.

Depends on your idea of technological. After you leave the first city behind in FF7, you realize how Podunk the rest of the world is.

Juno is pretty slick though.

I find it funny that all of my favorite parts of FFVII are the parts that take place in the pseudo-steam punk metropoli or dystopian undercities, and all of my least favorite--or rather, least memorable--are the parts that take place in the IDENTICAL FUCKING CAVES that they scattered just about everywhere they could.

Mount Niffleheim, I'm looking at YOU. Fucking Mountain.

It was a very board poll question so people could interpret it how they wanted. So, anyway people took it didnt matter, the overall feel of FF7 is clearly more sci-fi/fantasy, and it doesnt have to do with graphics/systems since most will say that FF9 was less so.

The fact that you are declaring a poll on a tiny messageboard community on the Internet as "proof" of your claims makes you look as foolish as the fact that you didn't notice any technology in FF6 while playing it.
