  • Finally!!! Phantasy Star 2 on VC!!!!

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Phantasy Star II
Hailed as one of the greatest games of all time by fans and media alike, Phantasy Star II is an RPG that features an epic story line and turn-based battles. Play as Rolf, Nei, Rudo or several other characters as you navigate through the Algol star system battling the evil Dark Force. Build your characters, select the right weapons and armor, and take on the forces of evil through various missions as you find the right combination of characters to complete each objective. Experience the magic once again in this great sequel.

Yes I'm excited!!!!!

I say go for it if you can find it, there's a lot of good games on there.

Phantasy Star..... A lot of people disliked part 3, but I actually liked it. Phantasy Star 2 was probably the most innovative game in the history of RPGs. It was the first one that shed that generic character feel that older RPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest had. PS2 was the first game that had a real epic quest to it, real characters, strategic battle system, and a lot of other things that became standards in all RPGs from then on out. Final Fantasy 4 owes a TON to this game, for example.

A lot on PS2 may give the "I've done this before" feeling, but it was the first one to do all of that. The Phantasy Star team is the most underrated team in RPG development, to this day Skies of Arcadia remains my favourite RPG in existence. Hope you enjoy this game.

And by epic quest, I meant epic plotline. The actual quests in Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy were QUITE epic, but the plotlines and characters were very under-developed in comparison to Phantasy Star.

My major issue with Wii VC titles at the moment is the harddrive space, there's not enough of it for all the games I currently have which makes things inconvenient, and one of the major reason I am buying games for the VC is for convenience sake as I already own most of them on other consoles. I hope Nintendo fixes this within the year by either allowing games to be played from memory cards, or unlocking USB drive add-ons like they did with keyboards.

I think I've argued before that PS2 is actually a better game than FF2/4j. It's an amazing game and was WAY ahead of it's time when it came out (it came out a month or so before FF1 on the NES did here).

You were arguing against me! I was the one who said PS2 was better than FF4. Dig up one of the posts where I said I liked Sega Genesis better during the first half of the generation on because of the RPGs and you thought I was crazy. It was either you, Sine, or Kupek who was arguing against me at least. I am pretty sure it was you who said there were only 5 good Sega games, or something like that.

And I stand by my statement that there are only a few good Genesis games, particularly ones that hold up today. Less than 10 total. PS2 just happens to be one of them
