  • EA lost the Marvel License.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Old news I know, but they lost the Marvel license sometime at the end of January after EA Chicago was closed down.

Like the rest of the internet, I'm praying that Capcom recovers the license, also praying for Marvel vs Capcom 3(And ports of the older classics!)

what? They can't port without the license? That doesn't make sense.

I don't understand how the closing of EA Chicago ended up being a clause for a contract out. Any contract worth its salt would be bound to the main corporation, not just one building.

Marvel was going to do it anyway. which sucks as I was pretty stoked for their stuff. but just like their movie division marvel is taking everything in house and not letting any one company have their lisence as to prevent a lot of the shit that's been put out with their name on it.....*cough* Nemesis

but yeah just lie with the movie studio they are taking creative controll over their games and will hopeful start kicking ass....oh and a certain captain of com just might be allowed to totally kick some ass again

I think they'll slowly realize that making a movie and designing a game are two entirely different worlds. It's easy to know how to make games and put somebody's IP in it. It's really hard to do the opposite without tripping over yourself several times.

Good luck to them, but I think the next several games will suck until they get the hang of it.

Capcom doesn't own the Marvel characters. Since they don't own them, they need permission to use them in a published game. That they've already published a game with them doesn't matter. This kind of thing is probably preventing a decent amount of older games from showing up on the Wii's VC.

Ahhh, but if only our copyright laws were sane and exceptions made for computer technology.
