It's actually really good. I hated Ghosts, but this was a nice surprise.

I'll need to take more time to listen to the songs more to see which I like best, but so far, Demon Seed and Discipline are looking to be my favorites on the album.

On the way in to work I heard on the radio that NIN was coming here for a concert, so in August, we'll be going to see them in Lexington!

Lots of concerts/shows this summer for us :)

Good album. I need to listen to all of it in the car to get the full effect.

I do want to point out that the number times Trent Reznor has mentioned "hands and knees" in a song is quite high.

Actually, lemme count. Here are the number of times Trent has talked about getting down on your knees:

Terrible Lie

terrible lie.
my head is filled with disease.
my skin is begging you please.
i'm on my hands and knees.
i want so much to believe.

March of the Pigs

step right up march push
crawl right up on your knees
please greed feed (no time to hesitate)
I want a little bit I want a piece of it I think he's losing it

The Hands That Feeds

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

My Violent Heart

On hands and knees
We crawl
You cannot stop us all
you wear our bones
our skin
We will not let you in

Capital G

Well I used to stand for something
Now I'm on my hands and knees
Trading in my god for this one
And he signs his name with a capital G

The Beginning of the End

Down on your knees
You'll be left behind
This is the beginning
Watch what you think
They can read your mind

And I think it was "down on my hands and knees" on the song 1,000,000. So, seven. Not to say that I don't like NIN, but it's just something I've noticed a while ago.

I'm surprised that the word "I" or "me" aren't in every verse.

I rather liked Ghosts. It's solid ambient rock of no cost to myself.

It was okay. The problem was that you'd expect some sort of lyrics to suddenly pop out of the woodwork, and were disappointed when that doesn't happen. His voice is one of his best instruments, and taking that out of the picture is like a rock band without a guitar.

I remember throwing a rave once, and we had this ambient DJ send us a mix tape. A friend of mine and I were listening to it and we were both saying "Man, he builds up this really nice soundscape and right when the beat comes in and really floors the crowd, he drops everything off". It was breakbeat songs without the climaxes. Kinda got annoying, because this expectation is one thing, but it disappoints at the last minute. (We ended up asking him to throw down some beats at the right points, and he started building a set that way.)

Trent just needed a different kind of electronica if it needed to go instrumental.
