  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

SimCity: Creator

In short it seems to be a vast improvement over SimCity societies, it takes what worked in that game, and scraps the rest for what worked in previous games, and then adds more stuff in.

This SimCity game actually quite interests me. First of all, they have the day and night feature from Sim City 4, but they have also brought back Seasons which was a really cool feature unique to the SNES version of SimCity. It is supposedly very open ended in comparison to previous SimCity titles, but still has a flow of play. There are multiple themes throughout the game; Ancient Egyptian, Roman, etc... You start your city off in ancient times and then work your way throughout history into futurte times, similar to previous SimCities, I think everyone here has played SimCity 2000 where you start in 1950 and work your way up to the future.

For the firtst time too, players will be able to draw roads/tracks onto the map (rather than the previous grid formula).

There are also hero buildings as well, when different themes are used they become available. Other than that, there are not a lot of details available for this game, but so far I am quite looking forward to it.

I was a huge fan of Sim City (Console version) and Sim City 2000 (PC version) but hadn't really gotten into future versions, but SimCity Creator looks quite interesting.

In other news, Sim Tower which recently had a GBA version is also getting a DS version. I'll probably end up buying it yet again, I don't know why, but I absolutely love that simple simulation game =P

It seems to use the same assets as Sim Tower with some obvious additions. I do wonder how the gameplay will unfold; the original formula is fairly good as is, but they can always add in higher limits on customized objects (people, places, etc... One of the coolest features is naming a bunch of locations and people associated with the office building).

I remember how much people loved the SNES version. I played that one the most and actually still have a copy floating around.

Of course, now the original game's shareware so why not remake it, huh? :-)

The SNES version had more fun features to it than the PC version, I think that was the major attraction to the game. I am not sure the sales figures, but I would bet the SNES version was the more popular version of the game.

Sim Ant and Sim Earth also had superior SNES versions to the PC version. I also really liked those two games as well. Sim Ant was essentially an RTS style simulation game where you bred your ant colony and led them into battle to conquer territory.
