  • Final Fantasy Tactics A2 came out.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Crap story

Great gameplay

Judges don't suck nearly as much

Blah blah blah.

It's called an R4, Rent.

I've downloaded this, but haven't really had a chance to play it yet. Every time I pick up my DS it's Space Invaders Extreme or Metroid Prime Pinball which is, incidentally, the best game in the Metroid Prime series.

Hopefully the Judge bullshit isn't nearly as bad in this one. So far, I've started a game and as soon as the line "summer vacation is almost here!" came up, I shut it off.

Haha...how I desperately miss the dark story of old FFT.

I think the next time a game comes along with an FFT-like story, it will be Ogre Battle 3.

I found there to be a lot of unsettling things about FFTA...the original, y'know? The game is basically the story of one kid who just can't deal with leaving home, so he decides to commit mass xenocide of an entire world, its indigenous peoples, and the dreams of his broken, handicapped "friend", just so he can get back home. The goal and end result of the game is to destroy the world.

I always found that a bit disturbing. Its like a childhood fantasy fulfillment's anti-thesis--the kid is sent to a magical fantasy world of his dreams, where he attains power and wealth, but all he wants to do is fucking BLOW IT UP. My least favorite part of fantasy stories were when the kid goes back home, so it feels like a really disheartening goal to actually actively be doing that in-game.

Wow! Maybe I should have played it a little further. I didn't even realize the game had a story =P

It's one of those games I've beaten and taken nothing of the story away with me. The gameplay was the only thing that kept me going.

I think that with what has been said so far... I might have bought this one had it come out later. Right now is a terrible time for it with bigger profile games like FF4 DS and Civilization Revolution coming out very soon. So I am going to pass.... Unless I hear great things once people start finishing it.

Ditto. The reason why I stopped was actually kind of silly. There were points-of-no-return in the game that had items you needed to steal to get the best weapons in the game. I was a little irked at that, and so I ended up playing the game without progressing the story to try to get my Steal abilities. At some point, I just lost interest, because I wasn't progressing the story.

I actually lost interest because the battles were too easy. There's no fun in improving your party and getting new classes when you don't have to use any strategy in battle.
