I think Favre is ruining his legacy with this comeback. The guy had a great season last year and a very emotional retirement where he was celebrated as the future hall of famer that he is and hero among the fans of GB. In fact, even as a non-GB fan, it is hard to hate him! I've gone 180, though, and think the guy is douche.

How in the world can he say he was strong armed into retirement when now, suddenly, he has this fiery passion to play? Isnt the disruption and blatant strong arming HE did this off season just as terrible as the forced retirement he says was put upon him? The guy literally shoved himself back into GB, even when it was made clear that they did not want him there. GB finally gives its full support to Aaron Rogers, but Favre has to come screaming in and say, "Nope, here i come. I'm bigger than the game and i dont give two shits about you, Rogers." Poor Rogers! Not only do a lot of fans now hate him for nothing, but i also remember when they first drafted him and Favre said in a press conference something to the effect, "Its not my job to help train this kid." In fact, Favre was offended that GB drafted a QB in the first round that year.

Favre is a selfish brat who cant stay out of the limelight. He is going to fail in New York, retire uneventfully, and leave behind a divided fan base. Granted, he will still be in the HoF.

I think he fucked up his legacy with this little show.

But he must REALLY REALLY want to play to go down that route, I mean like you said, he had this nice season, and emotional retirement that was just like perfect for solidifying a Legacy, then he comes back, and that retirement crying and such seems like such a joke now.

I imagine he couldn't figure out what else to do with his life.

I've heard some people saying that the Madden curse has struck again, only it's turned Favre from a loved player into a strongly disliked player in a matter of months.

I'm with my fellow semite on this one, he just doesn't know what to do with his life and, considering the year he had last year, feels he can still be effective enough not to embarrass himself.

Give it a couple of weeks it'll be forgotten. After he retires, no one will remember this.

nobody is going to remember this, nobody talks about Montana on the Chiefs, nobody talks about Jordan on the Wizards. his legacy is fine, only his current perception is going to be messed until the next big story comes along.

the part that annoyed me the most was he wanted the Packers to "respect" him by releasing him yet he made no attempt to respect the Packer organization, players and most importantly fanbase by saying the teams he would most like to play for were the Vikings and Bears. how is a Packer fan suppose to feel when he goes into Lambeau in a purple jersey, did he not think of that at all?

i'm happy the Packers held their ground and sent him to a team of their choosing.

I still think this will only be forgotten if he displays his Future-Hall-Of-Fame like stature with the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. If he can take them to the playoffs and Green Bay loses Aaron Rodgers in the first half of the season, then I think he will have the last laugh.
