Maybe you should check out World of Goo for the WiiWare. In the vein of Loco Roco or Patapon, it sounds like it could be a quite neat, interesting, and unique concept for $10

In case you still have something against the WiiWare and can only stomach the concept of downloading games from the PSN or XBLA, it's available for the PC too. That should get you past your biconsolian mentality so you don't miss out on this game (you know who you are)

Seek, we know you love it.

EDIT: it's $15 and lasts about 5-6 hours. Seems to have the same "value" as Braid :-)

you cannot mention this game without saying that secret of mana also came out today.

Wasn't a huge fan of that game. It wasn't bad for a multiplayer action-RPG but it's certainly not the classic everyone seems to label it as

Yes it is.

I really don't see how anybody can think the multiplayer aspect of SoM added anything because if you slow down to cast spells it's exactly the same as playing it as one person, and if you just meleed the whole time it's the same as leaving computer on max aggression setting while either charging up to level 0 or 8 depending on your style. Although you can move around, you actually can't outrun any spell effects no matter what the animation looks like so it's basically the same as trying to play a turn based RPG while one person control one guy each, which is exactly the same as one guy controlling all the characters.

That said, I do like Secret of Mana.

I agree with Zeus here, the game was fairly boring 90% of the time without multiplayer, it is essentially the same for all of the games of that series except the first one (FFA).

I really don't remember the multiplayer being all that hot. It was cool to have 2 players on screen, but it didn't dramatically change the game in any way. I did love that game though...many, many years ago. I'm curious if it holds up now.

Have you ever watched a movie with a friend? Did you have more fun, despite the fact that the movie didn't change? Same deal. Doing things with other people can be more fun than alone.

I've never played SoM multiplayer, but the appeal seems obvious.

Now perhaps someone with some opinion after having read the article :-)
