  • Three noteworthy RPGs for Wii next year, just announced

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Phantom Brave Plus is coming this winter. It's a port of the original with exclusive additional content and a new character. I just got Disgaea DS, which I can confirm looks the same as the original except that it is zoomed in a bit.

The mothership Tales series is coming to Wii starting with Tales of the 10 (codename?) which has been in the works for 2 years now.

Monster Hunter G has been announced for this Spring, this is a beefed up version of Monster Hunter 1 on PS2. This series may have already replaced the Tales series as #3 on the RPG charts, especially when part 2 in Japan sol millions and shot the PSP to number 1 for a considerable amount of time. Monster Hunter G is a warmup for the upcoming Monster Hunter 3.

Some good RPGs are just what I need for console as I am close to finishing off my PS2/PSX library

You know the 360 has several good RPGs that aren't even remakes or enhanced ports.

Yeah, but Seeker is xenophobic of the US, thus he only like the Japanese stuff.

2009 will be the year I convince Seeker to buy an Xbox.

This is the result of all the companies saying "Holy FUCK is the Wii popular! We need our shit on it now! We missed the first two years and Sony lied to us and the PS3 ain't sellin' worth shit. We gotta catch up. Port some shit 'til we get some new stuff on there"

Until they realize that casual gamers don't play JRPGs...

Just wait for the sales of Monster Hunter G and 3 on Wii in Japan. They don't need to sell a single copy in the US to make tons of money.

Look at the Jap market. If you were an RPG company, what system would you want to release your RPG for? The PS3 just hasn't caught on and the 360 has occassional spikes but no real sustained sales. There's a reason DQ is becoming a Nintendo-exclusive again. DQ9 ain't comin' for the DS for no reason.

It's a different mentality/market in Japan than here. And that's all the RPG companies care about when they're developing their games
