  • LCD Television and Image Tearing

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

So my family knew I had been wanting to buy a new TV for awhile. Everyone gave me cash for my birthday and told me to go buy a new TV which I did. I got a pretty good deal on a 32" Sharp Aquos 720p (At the 32" size, I really couldn't tell a big enough difference to pay the premium for 1080p in that size range. This is a bedroom TV.) All the reviews sounded good on it, so I assumed it was a safe buy. I was worried about "ghosting" but I have yet to run across it. I hooked the PS3 up to it and have played several games (COD4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Madden 2008) and everything looked good. I traded my XBox 360 in for an XBox 360 Elite (I had an old version without HDMI and a refurbished 20GB hard drive.). I played Halo 3 from start to finish and didn't have a problem. What I've noticed though is when playing Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda (It came with the Elite, heh. And I've already finished Kung Fu Panda :P) is that there are tearing issues. Is this the Television or just the game? Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I haven't gotten around to hooking it up to the 60" 1080p television yet to see if it does the same thing. Its more annoying than really affecting game play. I just thought it was weird that it was only happening with those two games.

And if anyone wants to add me, my Live ID is louiswalker1980.

Tearing is a game-specific issue. It's not the TV's fault.

I think we should have a poll on whos real life webcam pic is more disturbing, Nev or Louis...

Then, we should all get webcam avatars.

Mental looks like a wigger who just woke up (just an observation, man; no insult intended) while Louis looks like a creepy bouncer who's pissed off at you.

I'd go with Louis

That picture was actually taken after drinking a fifth of Vodka the night before and I was up over 36 hours straight before getting a few hours sleep. I was somewhere in the mountains of Virginia with my ex-girlfriend. I think we were at her aunt's hours or something. She went off talking with her family and left me with the camera. So I just started taking pictures of myself.

I know. I'm weird.

They're both disturbing, but Mental's is worse by far. I don't understand why either of them do it... I'm not against using your real face as an avatar, but how about using one that's less fucking creepy/disturbing?

I never realized my avatar was creepy/disturbing. Now that you mention it though, I like being creepy/disturbing.
