...for refusing to meet with her backstage at the Grammys, or some shit like that.

Is she out of her sixteen-year-old-lipstick-lesbian mind?

I mean, even a normal rock band fan would laugh their ass off and then hate her for years. But these are Radiohead fans we're talking about, for Christ's sake. As far as I know, for serious Radiohead fans (I enjoy their music but am not one), even God takes a back seat to Thom Yorke.

I am surprised that REALITY ITSELF did not immediately tear Miley apart limb from limb into her component atoms rather than let her eventually realize how utterly powerless she is to do anything about Radiohead's success. I mean, I can't think of a force in music less likely to be compromised by a Miley Cyrus vendetta. She'd do better to start a beef with 50 Cent.

Welcome to the "I have let the money and fame destroy my good sense" channel - which, in America, is ALWAYS on.

LOVE it. I'm one of those huge fans of Radiohead and silly Hannah Montana would never change my views about the band. I'm glad they snubbed her AND Kanye West off. Why should they be forced to meet people they probably don't like or respect as artists.

Cyrus will be nothing in a few years when the show's completely dead. She seems to think she's this huge star when it's just Disney proppin' her up right now. Too many diva-like actions at too young of an age. Her daddy should get smacked around for not controlling her.

Hahaha isn't this like Larry the Cable Guy saying he'll ruin Keith Obermann or something? They're in totally different leagues with totally different audiences... plus she's a fucking idiot.

She's 16. We said dumb stuff when we were 16, too. But no one was listening.

Why are we discussing this, these are clearly the end times for entertainment news.

That's okay. She'll end up like Brittany Spears or Lindsey Lohan. Disney's good at creating people like that. Hell, with a character name like Hannah Montana (which sounds like a fucking porn name), she's destined to have 3 kids when she's 20 and be on the cover of Star every week.

I do agree. It's not easy to live life in a fishbowl and Miley is young. We should remember that and give her some slack there - but I also think she probably gets a pass from a lot of people because she's Hannah Montana, and that's why she feels like she can say this stuff. Somebody needs to bring her back to Earth, and I understand Thom Yorke has responded wonderfully to her statement in a way that should remind her to be a bit more humble.

I would be willing to do violence to Billy Ray just on account of "Achy Breaky Heart".

More seriously, yeah. He's not doing a good job of parenting. I understand there is some valid concern as to how much he cares about his daughter and how much he cares about the lavish house his daughter's popularity is buying him (as one example).

Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks has a great commentary verse on the whole female pop star phenomenon on their new album:

"And what's gonna become of them in like fifteen years
When Hannah Montana turning into Britney Spears
They chew you up and spit you out 'cause no one really cares
And ain't nobody gonna hold you when you really scared
Where the parents at, cousin, this is really bad
Is this the mother____ing manager or really dad
Is he concerned about his daughter or a silly pad
This ain't gonna change nothing, I just think it's really sad."

The song is called "Trail of Lies" off A History of Violence, it's pretty widely released. I HIGHLY recommend it to any hip hop fans or even anyone concerned with the modern pop industry and reality media's exploitation of girls and women. He frames the first verse as an address to his cousin about his niece regarding the dangers of defining one's self-image from that culture, it's really powerful stuff. JMT in general is just off the hinges in terms of the social commentary, I actually can't think of anyone who has the balls to say the shit Vinnie is saying right now.

Anyone else listen to Jedi Mind Tricks?

Heh, Radiohead. "I'm a creep, I'm a wiener...". That's about all I remember about them.

That's like the worst song they have. Go listen to OK Computer or In Rainbows or for a more traditional alternative album, The Bends.

Thom Yorke is a genius and say/do whatever the hell he wants.... to anyone, anywhere, about anything.

Somebody fire up photoshop. What will this album be called? "Let's Work it Out"? Anybody on the cover needs to be wearing spandex and headbands.

See, I was thinking ten tracks with them subtly making fun of her the entire time.

Or at least Radiohead could finally make some money and really branch out to an audience.... Okay taking my bad jokes elsewhere :P

You mean like how Dave Navarro did to his girlfriend on his solo album?

"Fall in love with the empty girl"
"There is no love left in your eyes / There is love between your thighs"
"I never really even loved you / I'm just really insecure"
"I don't know if I can hear another tale of how amazing you can be / I don't think that I have really ever seen just how amazing you can be"

Great album, but all I can think about when I pay attention to the lyrics is that he must be making fun of Carmen Electra, especially since Carmen is the "empty girl" in the video.
