I thought Hossa did a smart and relatively sacrificial move to go to Detroit and risk the potential $50+ million he might lose by taking that one-year deal (doesn't look like it'll affect him too much since he had a great season and will likely get another big contract offer, but it was a big risk then). So now that his team is a little beat up and they're playing the team that begged to keep him and they're much better than last year, it's gonna be an interesting final.

And MAN would it suck for him if Pittsburg ends up beating Detroit for the cup. I still think Detroit's a slight favourite due to experience, depth, and the fact they're not completely beat up, but the Pens are a much tougher team this year.

Staal will own Detroit. If there is nothing I hate more than a Red Wing it's a Blackhawk. Staal will carry the Pens. Cindy may be crying on the bench but Staal is a man.

Oh and Billy Guerin owns Osgood.

Osgood has been amazing this playoffs. He's probably the most underrated playoff goalie in history....and one of the best. His regular season numbers may not be great but there's no doubt he gets it done when it counts. If Detroit wins, the Conn Smyth is his. If Pens win, Crosby and Malkin split it unless one of them does much better in the Finals than the other.

We'll see. The Pens are definitely better this year and Malkin's actually helping. Wings are a bit beat up but don't ever discount their depth or their experience. They do play stifling defense and everyone on that team can score.

It should be a close and fun series

3 lucky goals for Detroit. They can't rely on that all series long

It's the skill of the Wings that allows them this "luck". Don't trivialize their efforts. Abdelkater getting his own rebound and beating Fleury isn't luck. As for the first goal, Stuart did well to keep the puck in the zone and Fleury shouldn't have been out of the net like he was.

Even if they hadn't scored these three goals, they would have found a way to win. Detroit in 5.

I have no allegiances to either team. Both deserve to win IMO.

Afer the game, the Detroit players were even talking about the luck. When the teams are that close and you get bounces like that, you'll take it, of course. But that don't mean there wasn't a shitton of luck.

Even the 3rd goal scored by that 4th line kid was fucking luck. Staal loses it completely 'cause it's over his head. The kid does a great job of grabbing it and throwing it down on the ice in a great position and getting the shot off quickly. But if you look at the replay, he did not mean to put it top corner. He was actually trying to get it on the ice to the left side which is where Fleury's pad was. The puck's bounce made it hit off of the top his stick's blade and went up and over the sprawled goalie. That's luck, plain and simple.

In reality, both teams played very well and created a ton of chances. It was a very skilled and entertaining game and the end result was decided by the sheer luck of the bounces Detroit got. I would rather it be decided by skill but whatcha gonna do? But it's not like one team outplayed the other.

Again, two no calls lead to detroilet goals. Interference on Zetterberg should have been called for his play on Malkin. Hossa should have gotten slashing on the second goal. Lucky bounces, bad officiating. Whatever you call it, Detroilet sucks.

No, Detroit is still probably the best team in the league and may have won the series even without all that. But they're not only playing extremely well they're also getting the calls (you KNOW that ref is from Michigan with that non-call on the second goal) and the vast majority of the bounces (that 4th-line kid ain't bad but he's had a shitton of luck with both of his goals and the Pens hit 2 posts yesterday).

That's been the main difference in the series so far. Wings have gotten one huge non-call and at least 2 very lucky bounces per game.

that's what is pissing me off. I don't mind letting guys play. But I do mind when you let people get away with completely blatant crap. there had to have ben a call before goal 2 and in the third period I think it was al GIll that commited and extremely blatant interference on Hossa as he was blasting through the offensive zone for e a loose puck, There was a bunch both ways. Let them play but holy fuck, when there is a blatant penalty you call it.

Oh yeah, there was that from Gill as well. I remember that! That had to have been a make-up call in the minds of the refs 'cause of the two blatant calls they missed the other way.

I agree, man. Let the guys decide it properly and may the best team win. No favourtism bullshit and no make-up calls. Basketball and hockey are both pretty bad for that.

OMG referee conspiracy. No way the Crosby slash on the knee of Zetterberg was a penalty, nor the Talbot slash on the injured foot of Datsyuk. Oh yeah, and the Gonchar slash that broke Datsyuk's stick. Totally unfair for the gentlemanly Pens to be screwed by the refs and lose like that. Fucking DeTROILET.
