  • MMORPG becoming more single player-like

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Though it seems like if you want to just play a game by yourself where other people might be playing too, very few game beats Diablo 2 and it doesn't require a subscription. Assuming Blizzard didn't totally screw up Diablo 3, I'd imagine it will be a better single player game than any MMORPG out there.

Blizzard still isn't very good at balancing a game. Diablo 2 was full of "useless" skill trees.

I made a curse only necro and teamed up with a dual throwing Barbarian and we actually got all the way to Hell Ancients before it became totally impossible to kill them.

Given the time investment in Diablo 2 is pretty short, I don't think it's that bad some tree ends up being dead ends.

yeah they become dead ends and eventually become awesome gods in the next balancin patch which turns the godly characters into dead ends. the blizzard ideas if balancing are hilarious

I can assure you my curse only necro never become godly in any patch!

I just hope D3 has hardcore mode. I loved the intensity of only having one life, in spite many a frustrations...

I used a jav amazon for fun before it became the hotness, so i was happy to have her in the hangar when a patch+expansion made her an even better option. Blizz does over balance its games at times, its been seen in WC3, SC and D2.

I also appreciate a game where you can play solo, but be online. I think i lost interest in a lot of MMO's because of the team aspect. Call me selfish, but i want to log on when i want and to play for only the amount of time that i am able and not have to schedule times with clans or friends. But, i also want people to trade/chat/quest with if i need to. I love Diablo!

I think what makes Diablo a great game is that it's an essentially solo game but you can just team up any time you want if needed. In some sense the game is MUCH harder with a group of people, even if they're good players, than goign solo because enemy HP and regen scales linearly. This is of course assuming you don't got anybody that can one hit kill something at 8X HP.

that's the exact same thing I did. I made a javazon and it blew ass until suddenly it was ridiculously overpowered after a patch. I was confused.

You mean "griefers". I'm shocked that I ever got to level 49.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Blizzard couldn't balance an anvil on a flat surface.
