  • Gaming drought?

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Is it just me or is everybody bored? It seems like DS is getting some love, but there's not a lot I've heard about on 360 or PC right now. I still play Magic on XBL, but with the same decks over and over again, it's lost its thrill. I bought the first DLC for Fallout 3, but I just lost interest because I'd already put a lot of time into it, anyway. (Funny, I've gotten all the way until the end, but I haven't beaten it yet.)

The XBL games have been mostly shit and just not much there right now. Steam doesn't seem to have much, either, unless there's something out there that I haven't heard about. Somebody was talking good things about Aion, but I really don't want to dive into another MMO right now.

I haven't seen anything interesting lately except Diablo 3, and who knows when that's going to come. It looks like some of the MMORPGs that will be coming out soon won't totally suck, but the time commitment needed makes me not want to try them out.

Wii's had a better lineup recently than 360....

There's so many older games now that the generation is 3 years old that you can always find something good to play. It doesn't have to be the game that came out within the last month to be fun....or even new (to you).

Well, if you have tastes like mine: Little King Story. I am finding this game to be incredibly fun and in many many ways is exactly what I have wanted to see in an RPG ever since the 16-bit era.
-Build a town
-Pass laws (I just passed one today forcing the population to exercise every night)
-Talk to the subjects
-Listen to their suggestions on quests to do, things to build, and laws to pass
-designate population to various occupations
-Build an army
-Conquer neighbouring locations to expand your town
-Conquer rival kingdoms (I am invading the kingdom across the river currently, I just recently built a bridge across with my carpenters)
-Take their princesses to help expand your royal court
-Hold Kingdom wide festivals to celebrate your victories and accomplishments

The games I've been picking up lately are mostly either downloads or DLC content for games I already have. Splosion man is fun, battlefield 1943 is a good time, wipeout hd fury is AMAZING, bit trip beat, bit trip core, my life as a darklord on the wii, and grabbed broken steel for fallout 3 (it's old, but point lookout came out recently). MvC2 comes out next week, and Wii sports resort hits this sunday, and that little king's story that seeker is playing has really peaked my interest as well. There are games out there, grab 1943 and come play with me.

Mirror's Edge is $10 new in Canada 'til the end of July. That's worth a look IMO

I'm so far behind that I never experience a real drought. The list of games I'd love to go back and play is a mile long. :)

But, I know what you mean. Why there are never any good releases in May or June is beyond me. You'd think that'd be a good time to sell games since students are finishing school and there's usually a lack of new games.

Last year, we had Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and MGS4 in May and June. Not to mention GTA4 and Smash Bros in March and/or April.

The real reason there's often a drought in the summer is 'cause it doesn't suit the fiscal years of the companies too much. They generally have March year ends and are trying to move their old stock out before the Xmas rush and the return of school. In the summer, people camp, go on vacation, etc.

Drought? Not really. Maybe I just haven't noticed between going outside in summer and trying to sell my house.

I just bought the Call of Duty 5 collector's edition for $40 from EB (one of their July Daily Deals).

Also bought Last Remnant for $10 from EB earlier this week on their Daily Deals.

Just beat Prototype on the PC.

Still have to play Overlord II on the PC.

And of course, my age-old crutch of Dark Age of Camelot.

Always something out there to play if you look hard enough.

I'm sitting on about seven full-length games I have not finished because I've been working so much lately. So regardless of whether or not there's a drought, my personal water towers are overflowing.

Most of the stuff I've been looking forward to comes out later this year Dragon Age - Origins and (possibly) Mass Effect 2 and Assassin's Creed 2. But yeah, I haven't played anything amazing all summer.

I did finally end up buying Plants Vs Zombies a few weeks ago and it's a blast.

Hmm...bored again after playing through Prototype. LOTRO is still available, but I'm not really that interested since Shellie and the rest aren't playing much. Tessian, you play LOTRO at all?

I hate playing fighters as single player. I hate playing fighters online. I don't have friends who would play fighters with me offline. Also, the arcade scene has sucked for the past 10 years, so no dice there.
