This morning we had the worst flooding in the history of Louisville. In one hour we got over 6 inches of rain. Being a city on the Ohio river didnt help. The main library downdown has 3.5 feet of water inside and they lost tens of thousands of books.

Here's what happened to our neighborhood.

Hope you guys get to higher ground or the rain stops. It was supposed to thunderstorm here all day but never did.

Yep, it's completely dry now. Our storm system just got overloaded and couldnt handle that much water at a time. The water got about 10 feet from our house in the backyard. Much closer and the basement would have flooded.

We got smacked with a similar storm on Sunday... flash flood, dumped inches and inches within a few hours. Luckily my area didn't see the worst of it, and I'm on the 2nd floor ;). Major highways were closed for half the day though

About 6 inches in 45 minutes. MSD (metro sewer district) said that a rate of 3in/hr is excessive. This was closer to 8in/hr, which is way beyond what the drainage can handle.

Those pictures would be sweet if I didn't realize the depth of flood damage they portended.

Yeah, it ending up being about four feet of water in the main library. I feel bad for all of the books they probably lost, and whatever archives were in the basement. Also, this.

Okay, the car is (very foolishly) driving about half-submerged, and I don't know how the electrics are still working, but what the fuck is up with the fat dude on the chair that just floats by? O_o

Yes, that's an overpass that the picture is taken from.
