I would agree if my TV didnt already have the PS2 and DVD player hogging up all my available RGBYW inputs... I guess i have one HDMI available that would be good for a PS3 if it connects that way, but i would def need to daisy chain another surge protector which im not sure is a safe idea. Too many electronics!Tupac Seekur wrote:Well, if you have a PS2, you're set. The two systems use different ports, so I am not sure if there would be too much of a conflict in having both.

You shouldn't have all 3 hooked in... switch between the PS2/3 on power. I doubt you still play PS2 games on a regular basis....right?Flip wrote:I would agree if my TV didnt already have the PS2 and DVD player hogging up all my available RGBYW inputs... EngadgetIt's smaller and lighter, has a 120GB HDD, and packs "all the same features" of the regular PS3 while consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space.
Have you physically seen a PS3? They're huge, and they're heavy. They're not big or heavy enough to not fit into shelf space, but I imagine it's awkward. And the curved top means you can't stack anything on top of it. I assume the redesign also cuts down on heat - PS3s run hot.Flip wrote:I dont see how a slim system matters all that much. Obviously a slim DS or PSP is awesome, but who cares how large the console is? The price drop is the only draw here.
Well, it doesn't have as much to do with it being "slim", but the new design is already better than the original because it's FLAT ON TOP. I can't tell you how many times I sit a controller on the PS3 and it immediately slides off onto the floor. For some reason that really annoys me because there's no reason for it to be freaking curvy when it serves no purpose.Flip wrote:I dont see how a slim system matters all that much. STRONG rumour that's coming in a firmware update. That would be very smart of themChris wrote:and yet still no backwards compatability. Why would I fucking want to spend $300 on a system that won't play 90% of the games I'd want to play on it?
Geesh. Everybody needs to get a A/V Receiver.Flip wrote:I would agree if my TV didnt already have the PS2 and DVD player hogging up all my available RGBYW inputs... Seriously. What games am I supposed to buy with a PS3? I mean last generation, I bought all three consoles because each one had some good exclusives to offer (even if PS2 was king). But, with PS3, I don't see a need to buy a PS3 just to watch MGS4.Tessian wrote:Very cool... too bad I still have no use for one.
Hey now, there's also LBP which you'll get bored with after a weekend, and Lair which showed us how ground breaking and awesome the SIX-AXIS is, right? There's also Resistance, Uncharted, and... The PS3 is little more than an MGS4 adapter right now. If you're going to buy the system, you HAVE to get the only potential system seller on the system (and one of the best games of this generation). Other games that you may want to consider are:Kupek wrote:Valkyria Chronicles looks amazing.
Before you exclaim, "I'm not going to buy a system for one game!" I'm not saying you should. You asked what can you buy the PS3. That's a game I know I'd like to play.
I just saw FF7 on it the other day and almost bought it for the PSP, but considering my GF never stops playing lumines or luxor, i cant even use the thing anymore to begin with.Blotus wrote:
You've also got the PSOne downloads which you can play on the PS3 or PSP. Admittedly, I'd only purchase a few of the 30-something titles they have up since the list is stacked with shitty first-party Sony titles.

Yes! Wipeout HD (and Fury), Fat Princess, Pixeljunk Eden, Flower, Noby Noby Boy, and a couple more are really excellent exclusives. This lower price point just finally justifies it all.Flip wrote:Some of the exclusive DL games like PixelJunk Monsters and Everyday Shooter are must haves, too.
In general. I was agreeing with yours and mentioning the few other exclusives I thought were worth it (unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be too many yet). I did forget Little Big PLanet, though. That's another good one. There are a few DLCs that some have mentioned as well (and Noby Noby Boy, which seems forgotten).Kupek wrote:Uhh, Zeus? Were you addressing me, or just people in general? Because I mentioned Valkyria Chronicles because it's the game I'd like to play more than any other this generation. But that doesn't really matter, because I'm not going to consider buying something like that until after I graduate.
