New Firefox

Just downloaded the new Firefox. Noticed that my text in the address bar is now Blue. and the tab box has a plus sign.

Not sure what else has really changed but those are the first two big visual changes I've noticed so far. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I had a weird graphical glitch with the new Firefox for a while and it disappeared as mysteriously as it came. Probably another quirk with my desktop.

I kinda like the + button for a new tab. Not that it was a huge drag to middle click my home page (blank page) or hit ctrl-t. I still find myself using the old ways 95% of the time.

Almost the only reason I open a new tab (that's not a link I want to open in a new tab) is to do a Google search, so I almost only open a new tab by pressing ctrl+t - my hands are already on the keyboard to type search criteria into Google.

I use new Windows instead of Tabs 'cause Alt-Tab doesn't work with Tabs. And I never have more than 3 or 4 open at any time.

Yeah, I don't know how I survived before ctrl-tab sometimes. And to think I discovered it while drunk and trying to alt-tab.

My google search bar doesnt open a new tab, though, it runs the search in the tab im in. I wonder if i can change that...

Opening a new tab for a Google search is faster and less work than using the search bar. Since Google's homepage forces the cursor to start in the search box, I can press ctrl+t, then start typing. Using the Search bar requires using the mouse and taking the time to manually get the cursor in the search box, and perhaps switching the search away from Amazon or Wikipedia. (Since neither Amazon nor Wikipedia force the focus into their search locations, using the search bar is faster for them.) It's a small difference, but it's still a difference.

I don't use Firefox so I'm out of it - but, did they upgrade the sprite-scaling algorithm in this one? They were supposed to do that awhile back and indeed they may have prior to this, one of the big reasons Opera locked me in is that it had modern smooth image resizing long before IE or FF did.

That's exactly why I use ctrl-t exclusively. I can do that much faster than moving the mouse.
