I wonder if there are any videos of the more unusual solutions to the puzzles. I guess I'm not creative enough, so I'm kinda bored with it. That and the controls suck ass.

Apparently there's some ethnic slurs which made it into the final product. I really want to buy it because of this; not because I am racist, but because they are so ridiculously wrong that they are ridiculously funny.

there is one and the ony reason people are offended is because they didn't program in enough different items so sambo summons the same thing Melon and Watermelon summon. thus making it racist.....it's not actually some racist thing as it's actually a fucking melon. but since it was used in the 30's as a racist term and looks like a watermelon....why it must be racist. No. It's not Racist...it's just not very good

Actually, if "Sambo" summons a watermelon, I'd say that's not the best.

Weird, Sambo is used around here to refer to the wrestling style. In fact, until yesterday, it is the only use I had ever heard it in. My friend from Honduras said it is a brand of chips where she's from. google images shows it is an obvious ethnic slur towards carribean blacks.

It's a coincidence that people are blowing out of proportion (like usual). Sambo is some ingredient in some dish and it's a melon-like vegetable or something. They reused the same item for a bunch of words so they chose that one.

Kotaku has a whole writeup. People will complain about anything! (Though the developers obviously did this because they don't like Obama which makes them racist ;))

Ah, it seems to be a way outdated racial slur. Kind of like kraut.

I know the term. I remember there was even a Disney cartoon using it a looooong time ago. But, no one uses it any more and it obviously means different things in different places in the world (much like fag doesn't mean the same thing in the UK).

Yeah, it looks bad, but it's obvious that it wasn't intentional so let's not get all worked up over it.

I'm not personally offended, I just think that was a genuine poor call on localization. It's not a user content issue like the LittleBigPlanet sackboy school bombing thing. :P It just doesn't provide context. Everyone's entitled to their opinion though.

I know they have a lot of words in there, but this is one of the issues with introducing context into word-based games (which is only going to get bigger, you watch) - you also inadvertently introduce history, and connotations. I don't really care, and I don't see a reason for any hue and cry, but I still think it's something that apparently has been taken the wrong way for some.

Localization and real-world-context issues for ingame features are not easy for the best of companies. (Or for anybody.) Kind of reminds me of the few games that have tried to depict Jesus and mostly gotten reined in, because nobody wants to touch that one with a ten foot pole.

...dude. I hate to contradict myself and make a hypocrite and asshole out of myself, but I apparently don't hate it quite enough not to make this comment. :P Is Jesus in Scribblenauts? :D And if so wouldn't he have to be the solution to every screen?

Jesus is not in Scribblenauts, though I did try. God is, but he's the same as Zeus and Messiah. The devil is in there and is the same as Satan. Mohammed is also not in there. :)

I figured you weren't offended. My comments are directed more at the people making this a huge deal because I know there are a bunch of them out there. :)

You know what is in there also - a mind control device, a shrink ray, and an invisibility cloak! I wish poop was in there. I really wanted to watch a monkey fling poop.

Bless your heart. On all counts.

Still not seeing the videos of wacky solutions. Come on people!

The wackiest I've done is hook balloons to people I need to get rid of and letting them float away. :)

I've done that to myself to fly up.

Yeah, I've used it on a few things. My favorite was the goalie where you had to score a goal. He was very upset that I made him float away. :)

I got stuck on that one and accidentally beat it by picking up a soccer ball and just running it in.

yes but it doesn't actually win you the level. however there are gamebreaking cheats like handcuffs and a vending machine

Yeah, you can create a Starite, but it doesn't do anything. You can also create Maxwell and a Scribblenaut. They don't do a whole lot either. :)
