  • Excitebike 2 1/2D sequel coming; DLC only

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Arrgh, 2 sins commited in this post.

1. Referring to an entire independent title as DLC, in order for a title to have downloadable content, the title must first be purchased. It is Wiiware, or just plain "downloadable".
2. Linking to a site which uses "2.5D", there is no such thing as 2.5D, this is 3D graphics existing on a 2D plane.

That's exactly what "2.5D" means.

That's only what ignorant and lazy thinkers have come to incorrectly call it. Graphics can only be 2D or 3D. The plane is independent of the graphics; they are two different components. Would you call a game or TV show using a 3D plane and 2D graphics 2.5D as well?

It's shorthand. It says in one word what previously took an entire phrase ("3D graphics on a 2D plane"). People invent new words when using an entire phrase becomes cumbersome. They enter colloquial use when enough people realize the benefit of the new word over the entire phrase. Live with it.

You guys have to learn to ignore Seek when he goes on these stupid rants that don't make any sense the way you ignore every post I make.....

Yeah, Sine, it's pretty neat they're including a full-on level editor in vein of the old one considering how awesome that was back in 1985. I think the entire approach to this title makes it look like an excellent remake/sequel.

To answer the part or your post that deserves to be answered, Seek, it's a WiiWare title. I used DLC as shorthand in a limited subject space to indicate it was only downloadable on WiiWare. Figured the rest was assumed considering it's a Nintendo-published title

Actually, I was being sarcastic. The only reason why anybody ever played the game was to get into the level editor.

If you don't mind being wrong, then you can call it that. DLC refers specificly to additional content released separately for the main game via download.

No, it was a fucking awesome racing game at the time, too. Sure it was short but it was so damned fun you just played those levels over and over again

I like the trend of remakes/sequels that are coming as $10 DLC on all the systems. There's been BC:RA, Mega Man 9, Gradius Rebirth, Bubble Bobble Plus, Castlevania Adventure on the way....and now, an Excitebike sequel. We would never see these games unless on handheld so it's a great way to make these sequels/remakes. And they're often quite good so no complaints there.

In fact, I hope they keep releasing more remakes/sequels of a lot of their older, "dead" franchises in Saturn-quality graphics. Would anyone here complain about a Kid Icarus sequel for $10?

I HAVE to point out how amusing Zeus's reactions are to being corrected. Particularly how he tries to act the big macho man to defend everyone who essentially comes in and tells me to shut-up.[/i]

Also amusing is how you communicate to me by directing your posts to others, and slipping in insults like "idiot" (ironic since you were the one having your flawed post corrected). Amusing to me, if only because you remind me of a humourless overdramatic housewife in a bad TV drama about a dysfunctional family. Although I am willing to bet you find it as clever of a way in going about things as the word "Microshaft".
