So, I'm trying to play Borderlands, and I bought a MadKatz headset mic for the occassion (since the one that I'd gotten with the system seemed unresponsive.) However, upon using this aforementioned headset mic, I've found that, while I can hear what other people are saying, I can't seem to respond in turn.

I've checked, and I know I wasn't muted, the volume was at the highest it could be, the jack was inserted squarely into the controller...I'm at a loss as to what is wrong. Can any of you fine folk possibly have any wisdom to share?

Oh, this is XBox. I had some issues getting mine to work on Windows 7, but figured it out. No idea on XBox.

It might be your connection. Sometime my voice comes out choppy in other people's ears and vice versa, but it's not the headset's fault (even though I am on my third shitty Microsoft one). Try recording a voice message. Does that work?

Go to your friends list and select send message/voice message/record the message, then play it back. If you can't hear it, I guess your mic is broken.
