Message Boards

You guys are the knowledgeable sort of Internet denizens. I must draw upon that knowledge today. I'm tasked with looking into creating a message board for my newspaper. I've shown off Proboards, which was met with interest, but more variety is required.

I need suggestions or recommendations of other message board clients (they don't necessarily have to be free) that I can show off to my bosses. I am also interested in phpBB, but am curious to know just how much programming/HTML knowledge I really need in order to run one.

phpBB is pretty easy to set up. SMF (Simple Machines Forum) is another recommended one, as well as vBulletin. Here's some reviews: http://www.forum-software.org/
