So if any of you remember, I mentioned in March of last year that I got my Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.

At that time I was a temporary Security Admin (since May 2007), processing access requests and doing a lot of paper work.

Today I got news that I got the position I applied for at the same company, Senior Security Specialist. Not only is it a permanent job, but it came with a 25% pay increase. I'm completely pumped today. On top of Canada winning gold in hockey last night, this week has been all good news!

Just thought I'd let you guys know, as I've been (sort of) keeping you in the loop with my career development.

That's freakin awesome man congrats! I got my CISM last year, hope to get my CISSP this year. What did you do to prepare? Just a book or two, or did you go full out to the 5 day crash course?

I found out I was going to write the exam one month later, so I crammed for a month. I read the entire Shon Harris CISSP prep book. The questions in it are NOTHING like the exam, but all of the material is very very good.

I then took the 5-day boot camp (work paid for it). We had it with John Berti, one of the guys who wrote the Official exam guide (hasn't been in print for about 6 years). He was REALLY good. I think he does courses outside of Canada, I could look into it if you're interested.
