I'm locking the forum because I'm in the middle of a database move. I'm going to be moving the phpBB database from the old to new VPS, and converting from MySQL 3 to 5, then installing phpBB 3 and have it convert the data for the new forum.

Anyway, it will probably be ready today, but the DNS changes will take a while. In the meantime, here's the IP address: http://67.223.254.104/

That will redirect to the new Shrine site when it's ready.

(grrr...I'm going to miss user posting styles...)

Well, this is certainly different. It's going to be hard to get used to this thing. On the plus side, there's a lot of cool features on the new version. For example, I can add custom BBCode tags, which you can see at the top.
Spoiler: show
Here's a spoiler for example. BTW, Darth Vader is your father! :sw:

I still really miss having our own custom colors, though...

Tell me about it. Really need to at least get the site logo and stuff up here. I don't like how bland the style is. Even the "new message" thingy seems not noticeable enough.

Shellie will probably dive into this when she has time, but if anybody has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I think I may investigate some of the new styles out there.

Hmmm, I kinda like this black version. I installed a bunch of different styles. Maybe Shellie can use these as templates for different logo images and we can cycle between them.

I do have to say that the original theme sucks.

Don't worry, I will be doing some very nice styles, and I think it will be pretty awesome, and you should be able to select what "flavor" of the style you want to see.

BTW, I think this style is hideous.

EDIT: I changed the style to the classic one since we're used to that. You can also change your style in your control panel if you like something else.

I'll be changing the logo up top to the old banner soon.

Sure it's hideous but Dark Phoenix represent! (only Tessian will get this joke)

Light text on a black background is hard on the eyes. Light backgrounds with dark text are much better. Maybe there's user preferences...

Aaaaand indeed there is. xand grey is pretty much what I want.

And I can finally disable signatures.

You should have seen the original style. There's just something wrong with that style that makes everything so "samey". It's really hard to figure out who is who, and I really don't like the avatars on the right side.

Make people's names in threads bigger. Also, the red for Sine and Seraph is a little distracting. Not that it's a different colour, it just stands out SO much. The contrast is too great to the standard black-on-grey

I remember our shortly lived clan, but what's that got to do with this??

I think it's great, just gonna require some getting used to but it's very pretty and cool.

When's the DNS get updated?

Depends on your ISP. Glue records are already updated, and it's pointing to the name server with the new record.

At the time the board color was mostly black and there was a phoenix-shaped bird in the corner as the logo.

Yeah, it's the Black Pearl style.

Anyone else had any trouble logging in using Firefox 3.6?

My logins don't seem to stick, weirdly. I log in, get a "you have successfully logged in" message, and then redirect back to an un-logged-in page.

Chrome works fine.

Make sure you are going to www.tows.cc now. I just changed the cookie host from the IP to the real domain because the domain is working for most of the users. If it still isn't working go to a command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns".

I was having this problem until tows.cc started working for me. All's working normally, now, though. Didn't even occur to me to try another browser than Firefox... Of course the only other thing I keep on here is IE8 which I only use so Vista can update it so I can have an excuse to restart my computer on some kind of routine basis.

What's up with our sigs? Or rather how can I get the same result I had before? Or is that no longer possible.

Use BBC code. PHPBB3 no longer supports any HTML in posts/sigs

The font is not permanent. Like I said earlier, the User Posting Styles are not implemented yet. I would have to convert the code I had to work for v3.

It would be great if you could implement it. With this new look, it's a lot harder to distinguish where one post ends and another begins. Yes, it's easy to see the lines but when you scroll quickly, they appear to blend together a lot more

You learn. I had user posting styles turned off on the old forums, and you learn to differentiate posts based on the separators and the avatars. It would be nice if the background colors alternated subtly as they do in the old default. Perhaps make the gray separator a bit darker?

Ill work on editing the themes a bit more. Not much time in my day lately to do it though :) You can also experiment with some of the other styles if something works better for you. If you see another style online that you like, post a link and we can install it.

That would help, I think. I'm sure that's why the indentations are there as well. They're just not as clear as they were in the old forum and it requires a lot more effort to distinguish the posts.

Seraph, I'm finding that the "new post since you were last here" markers don't refresh each time I close my browser then come back. So if I'm here in the morning and I don't click on a thread if I come back in the evening, it'll still be the orange marker and further down the forum since it was posted later than stuff I may have already checked. Do you guys have that on a timer as opposed to resetting at each visit?
