  • Barton vs Thoroughbred: what's the dif? Which is better? I'm looking to upgrade in the summertime and the 2800 or so AMDs will probably be what I get. Also, an LG Multiformat DVD writer (4x) for $130 Canadian. Good? How long to burn a full DVD?

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>i think the Barton is the nickname of the XP 2500 only. Thoroughbred refers to the board the processor is built on and is AMD's top board, thus is was only used for the higher speed processors. Although, a few XP 1700 built on TB's slipped through and are highly coveted by the MOD community since the good board allows you to overclock the crap out of the 1700 and get the best speed for your buck.

The 4x DVD burners are the best deal right now, 8x's still run way too expensive for the casual burner. I think i read you can burn a 2 hour movie in like 30 min with a 4x.</div>
