A co-worker and I were talking about concept albums or "rock operas", which got me to start listening to a few of them, like Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory and David Bowie's Outside. I always find them hard to piece everything together, but still ultimately interesting to try to decode.

Others that elude me are Marilyn Manson's "Adam Trilogy", which I don't even know is actually real or not, but apparently, the three albums ACSS, MA, and Holywood are all part of this trilogy, played in reverse chronological order. Also, NIN's Year Zero, which even had some interesting web site viral stuff going on. I think it was the first part of a trilogy that didn't pan out.

Anybody else had any interesting concept albums you've heard recently?

Green Day's American Idiot is kind of a concept album. Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium is a concept album. I only really liked two songs on it, though.

The Decemberists - Hazards of Love is the most recent concept album I've listened to. Probably the best album they've ever released.

Ooo, I like prog-rock bands. Might need to give these guys a listen.

Me too, on the Mars Volts. Didn't think it was rock opera-y tho.

Mars Volta is awesome shit and De-Loused in the Comatorium is a GREAT album. I didn't know it was them but when I was playing GT5 Prolgue I heard this:

To bad I can't find a decent mp3 of it anywhere!!! BT has the shit version that is redone from like a 96kpbs to 128 and it is too quiet for how the bass and effects bang. Not only that, no one has the single over here in the states that this mix was on. Gay ass iTunes won't let me download it because it is in the U.K. store. SOOOOO PISSED!

I recognize the album cover. It's a fairly recent album on GameMP3s.net. Go grab it there.

It isn't there. Or if it was the links to the torrent are fux0r3d. I downloaded the OST though but it does not include that track. Nor does it include it on cddb.

Yep, click on the download links. Neither work. Both put a SQL error up.

I used to be really into the mars volta, but then I saw them live and they were just awful. I still really enjoy their studio stuff, but that show really turned me off of them.

Got to listen to De-Loused. Absolutely fantastic album! Insane and complex at the same time. I really dig the singer, too. The story is bizzare but interesting.

Looks like I'm going to grab the other albums.
