3DS launch titles (for Japan) announced.

A little late (the press conference was a few days ago), but these are the titles announced for Japanese launch so far (probably similar in North America):

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D from Nintendo
Nintendogs + Cats from Nintendo
Pilotwings Resort (working title) from Nintendo
Pro Baseball Spirits from Konami
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle from Level 5
Ridge Racer 3D from Namco Bandai
Samurai Warriors Chronicle from Tecmo Koei
Steel Diver from Nintendo
Super Monkey Ball (working title) from Sega
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition from Capcom

I highlighted the ones that interest me the most; almost needless to say, Ocarina of Time is by far my top most anticipated title announced for 3DS so far (followed by the mystery Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles). I don't know anything about Steel Diver - if it is an Endless Ocean type title, then add that to my list. Of course, while these don't equal those that will be launch titles in North America, I think it is safe to assume that all of them (excepot Pro-Baseball Spirits, Samurai Warriors, and Ridge Racer.... RIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!) will be there; as well as several others. I would guess that Kid Icarus Uprising, Metal Gear Solid, and one of the announced RE titles will have western localizations ready for launch or in the window for the West.

Really? I've never actually played all the way through Ocarina, but: I watched a friend play a lot of it back in the day on the N64, to the point that I saw the fight with Gannon; I played about halfway through the GC version that was a pre-order bonus to Wind Waker; and Twilight Princess is basically Ocarina.

I love me some Zelda, but the idea of playing Ocarina again doesn't excite me.

I've replayed Zelda:ALttP at least 30 times over the years and I've never replayed Ocarina even though I loved it almost as much. The only reason is because I have aLttP on the GBA and I don't have a handheld Ocarina. Plus, the last time I played Ocarina was when I bought it for the N64 so it'll feel like a new game to me.

So, yes, I love Zelda games and I love to replay them.

Playing Ocarina of Time on handheld is something I've wanted for a very long time. Plus it gets the added bonus of 3D.

Twilight Princess lacked the heart of Ocarina of Time; it's bogged down by an oversized world and hundreds of tedious tasks that have no real purpose but to waste time (collecting moon tears in order to access the next dungeon for example). I just find TP boring in comparison to the classics. The best thing that I got out of Twilight Princess was that it inspired me to play Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask again; I liked those games much more.

Although if I was going to replay a Zelda game right now, I think I'd go for Wind Waker.

I loved Wind Waker. Maybe they'll throw that one onto the 3DS, too at some point!

I'm gonna hold off on the 3DS for a while, there's nothing on that list that I absolutely need, it's kinda pricey out of the gate @ $300, and you know for a fact there's gonna be 2-3 reiterations of the 3DS over the next 5 years after it comes out.

Hopefully no Ace Attorney games are announced, though even if they are the translation takes SNES RPG time and still gives me a year.

The Japanese price was announced at 25K yen, which means ~$240 if you consider the current DS line translates to roughly 10K yen =$95; and that is after a very recent price drop in Japan.

Of course, I think ~$279.99 is probably the price they should go for considering the tech.

Ditto, although, I gave up on Young Boy and the Sea about 10 hours in. It seems like all they are doing is remaking Ocarina again and again. Even SMB is more creative than that.

Based on how much fun I had with each on my last playthrough (played all at least once in the past 4 years, I rank the home console Zeldas like this:

1. Ocarina of Time
2. Majora's Mask (close second)
3. Link to the Past
4. Adventure of Link
5. Wind Waker
6. Twilight Princess
7. Legend of Zelda

I actually played through Adventure of Link the most of them all. While I do like Link to the Past, I find the experience of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to be more full and satisfying. Wind Waker I like way more than Twilight Princess. I felt Twilight Princess was too chore like and had more time consuming work stuff in it. Ocarina of Time is the definitive Zelda in my opinion.

On the price, while I would like to get it as cheap as possible, if it is priced too cheaply then I won't be able to get it at all (I got Wii late because of it being priced too low; I even had to resort to getting the local EB games manager to hide one aside for me.). I would like to avoid that again. I do not even have an iPhone 4 yet due to consumer demand heavily outstripping the production.

Since 3DS is something I know I will use a lot, as long as the price isn't something ridiculous like $900 I will buy it. I don't want to have to go through a reseller due to potential warranty issues. Although I am considering paying someone to wait in line for me; I would guess I can probably get away with that for ~$50-75.

I want to get two of them.

I'm going to come out and say it: I think Wind Waker is the best Zelda since Link to the Past.

A three hour tour, a three hour tour.

That being said, I did enjoy the game, much much better than the 1-2 hours we had with Twilight Princess.

I think Wind Waker is pretty overrated, usually in the way a title is overlooked or receives less than stellar press and then after the fact you get the vocal minority extolling its virtues and saying "you just don't get it".

I enjoyed it, but not so much the sailing, nor the art style which I found more ugly than charming.

Future Zelda games no longer interest me. I don't know when that happened.

I enjoyed WW's art style a lot. It felt...refreshing to me. I loved feeling like I was playing a cartoon. I liked the sailing though, which many people didn't. My only complaint with the game was that it was too short (i.e. there weren't enough dungeons for my liking).
